Any of you guys have satellite communication apparatuses?

Looks like I may end up doing the Kokopelli solo. Might be a good idea to have one.

We spent the day organizing, packing, filling propane bottles, etc. Except for food, we’re ready to go too.

Sounds like there are a few of us heading through there sporadically, what days you looking at? Worse case if something bad happens it won't be long before another Taco comes rolling along.

I’m leaving NJ sometime Friday 10/12 after work. If my Wife drives some, I’ll hit CO sometime Sunday 10/14.

My plan was to meet up with @Sub-Zero and hit the trail Monday 10/15. Ryan got stuck at work away from home for two extra weeks and can’t get his 37 install finished in time...

So, it looks like I’ll be hitting the trail solo with on Monday.

you have service for a good portion of the trail... when you drop down to fish ford and roberts bottom, you'll lose it. some sections from rabbit valley to cisco wash is patchy.

if you want, PM me your number and send me texts checking in... if you go silent i'll come in and search for ya

    That’s awesome. Thank you.

I can do even better though. That Garmin has a feature that allows others to track your movements if you give them the info.

If you’re serious, I’ll get you my info prior to heading out.

That’s fantastic. I really appreciate that. Obviously, I will set it up so a couple of people back home can check in on me. It’ll give me piece of mind knowing someone close is in the loop as well.

When I say I’m going solo, I mean only one truck. My Wife will be with me in my truck. She has her own trail rig and knows how to wheel. She used to wheel my truck before she got her own. So at least if I were to get injured or something, and the truck was still good to go, she could get us out.

The tracking on that Garmin is the tits. I used it to track myself last year, gave my friends and family my URL, and they tracked my location, could see when I sent messages to people, and my last given blip. It's such a great tool for being out in the middle of no where. I remember it took 3-4 minutes for a message to go through at the bottom of Rose garden hill, but it went out and that's what matters (nothing bad happened, was just a check in with the wife).

That’s funny, Mike. I remember doing the same thing right before Brett and Ryan went back up Rose Garden. I fucking love my InReach!
