Still haven't got one from the beach, I've done quite well from piers though. Now that I have my own beach transportation, I hope to break the streak.

i just wish i was closer to OBX, closest drumming i can do, is assateague. 130 miles away. occasionally there are pups and once in a blue moon my friend grabs a slob from cape henlopen, but you have to drive from up here.

this one was caught here in delaware, and if i wasnt on the beach that day i wouldnt have believed it:

If you were to go another 70 miles or so, you could get them on the eastern shore. I know a few people that go out there and catch them this time of year.

i got a buddy on Long Island and he's told me they've been seeing more and more over the years. Same thing with cobia.

Only been past it, never been to it, but looks like it could be an awesome place to both live and fish. Other than being NPS land, but that's anywhere now a days.

delaware is a pain in the ass with the beaches but atleast we own em! not the NPS. bird fuckers still get to have their way.

I love ski racks for transporting my surf rods. No way I could travel highways and city streets with 12' rods vertical.

I still refuse to pay for a permit for Coquina and further south. I'll fish Corova and nags head/kdh beaches(don't mind paying the town 15$ a year) but that's it. Don't let the NPS take them, I'm sure you know all too well what happens once they take control from vacationing down here.

i have done it, after a long wet tournament day, (2) 11'9" and a 12'3" made it home. but i was rubber necking the whole way. 10 miles, no overpasses, but the bottoms of red lights could have done me in hahahaaa. they were well over 13' in the surf rack.

A guy caught a 94lb Cobia in Fire Island Inlet Long Island last week on a bunker. Never used to see them up here but now you can't say it's uncommon.

I saw that, he took me out that way when I went up to visit in march, looked like an awesome place for fish, but I would never have imagined cobia to be up in there. He also told me about a mahi caught in there a year or so ago. All I can say is kill them while you can. The Feds are working hard to shut it down, down here. Upping the size limit and lowering the creel limit and also making a season for them over the past two years. Very good eating fish and a very fun fish to catch.

I hope you're able to keep it. It's a shame what they've done to us and other places. They just shut the point down the other day I heard.

well the bird f****rs are another story. our point just opened up, but only half. once all the migratory birds fly south, the other side will be open.

Yea lets not get into that on here.. Apparently ours is open again. But our beach driving in nags head and kdh just started today so I'm excited about that, ready to spot out some potential trout holes for Nov-Dec

I’ll resurrect this thread for another idea for people with toppers. Not ideal for everyone, but I’m fishing a couple tournaments here soon so I need the extra rods and needed to figure out a way to transport them relatively safely. This most likely won’t be a long term solution, but an idea nonetheless.
