Yeah, I guess this has been beaten to death, but Im at work and just found out as I was leaving for work, so dont really have alot of time to search.

As im leaving for work, the hood ajar alarm and message keeps going off. I know its closed, but pop the hood and a mess of a nest on drivers side up by master, wire harness, etc. Pulled it all out and made it to work which is 16 miles / 30 mins away with hood ajar chime going off whole time. Looks like they chewed thru that AND the wire that goes to brake reservoir. Im suprised I didnt get any brake fluid warning...bit I didnt...yet.

So Im not sure what wires go to what exactly. Should be obvious, but since theres 2 split wires, Im not exactly sure. Can someone plz post a few pics of that areas wiring for me to use as a reference?

Also, Is there any reason I need the hood sensor? Ive gotten by without one for like 30 years. Can it be disabled? Maybe just a fuse to be pulled? Plz let me know.

As far as the brake fluid res, I will obviously need to rewire that...if I can. Its split pretty close to the clip end near the res.

One last thing, is this something that insurance would cover. Under comprehensive if needed? Its weird, im 50 years old and have never had to make a claim in my life, so im quite unfamiliar.

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated. Wish me luck.

The hood circuit can be disabled by grounding the hood alert wire. The mouse chewing the wire opened the circuit which is what tells the dash that the hood is open. Find that wire and ground it and you’ll bypass the hood open alarm. The violet wire.
