I know, I am going back and forth between 265/75 or 235/85 and 255/85s. The list of potential problems that comes along with the mod'ing to do the 255s is a lot longer than for the 31-32 sizes. Higher lift, potential vibrations, shims, cab mount chopping, trimming, etc. And in my 2.7 5 speed case...re-gearing! All that for a hair over .6 inches of clearance under the diff! They do look cool though...lol.

I have been watching the expedition overland guys and they did some serious wheeling on 235/85s. Of course, even they moved up to 255s...

They have 285's on their current rigs.
I would definitely go with a 33" tire, your 2.7 has 4.10 gears from the factory and would handle 255's just fine. Plus they are skinnier so less rubbing problems.

You'll regret it if you go with anything less than 255/85 :) Im going with 315/75 next time for sure. Have to trim my fenders but oh well its worth it in my opinion.

I don't want to hijack this build thread, but its also an issue of budget. I want to go Icons, but if I lift past 2 inchs, which I will need to do to get the 255s on without rubbing, I will need new UCAs....more money. Also, would have to buy a whole dakar spring set instead of an add-a-lift...oh life's troubles...lol

Never been there in the winter but the Spring and Fall are awesome. It wasn't bad in late summer either, a little hot but it wasn't the height of the season so it wasn't busy at all. Was kinda nice.

I have more pics to post!

Thanks! Yeah, he had a great time. My buddy brought his boy a long too. They killed a lot of desert Zombies and climbed a lot of rocks. Haha
