I'll see how it goes when I get the cot. I'll give it a spin and see how workable it is.

As of now, I am only looking at it as a fall-back to the ground tent. - Even if i'm in the middle of the bed, it is only for a sleep. More than doable for a night or two...

    Re: pack.products
I had a look. This is heading more on the platform direction. Which means significantly more material than the cot.

I'm thinking that if the cot idea is clunky, I may have a different solution; I typically carry two 2x6 on trips for a variety of purposes.

They are normally my plywood sheet carriers placed on the notches in the bed, BUT on trips, they act as max trax, backrests, jacking bases, ramps, cargo retainers (off-road), posts, shelves at camp, temp bridges, emergency firewood, etc.

Maybe I'll just add a "bed" made from a piece of 28" wide plywood (with a hinged extension for a 6'-2" length) and complete a bed, by placing the plywood on top of the 2x6s in their intended notches.

This would give me my flat bed against the bed-side with the tailgate open and some fairly accessible storage underneath...

Thie piece of plywood would be big - but would really occupy little space laying flat.

On the negative side; It would be more to carry and it would weigh more than the 10 lb cot.

    Bed length
I briefly thought about the long bed when looking for a taco - but this option's unavailability with a manual gearbox made me forget about it.

I travel light, and I scrape the rear now & then, so im quite happy with my short bed.

Maybe i should just drill a hole in the wheel well!

Resurrecting to say the 74” long blue camptime Roll-a-cot fits in the 2nd gen (2007) too. The metal frame is only 72.5 so there is about an inch to spare.

Hoping to use to get an early start on kayak fishing without having to drive in the morning and a bonus will be able to use in the tent too.

I was originally going to go the cot route but made this instead and will be testing it this week at the beach.

This is looking like what I’m needing,I don’t want a platform and I can use in my Kodiak tent as well.
I love the mattress sleeve option as well.
Do you see any issues cutting the legs down an 2-3 inches. Is the leg caps removable?
I want as much head room as possible?

Exactly what I want in my 2012 but I want to lower it to right above fender hump for more headroom with cab high topper.

the leg caps come off and you can cut about 1.5” to 2” off. Can’t do more because of the hinge in the leg assembly.

That is funny you kept that!
    That’s exactly what I want.
I noticed the one I want(sleeve for pad)only has a two inch leg but the height is the same.
    May need more mods done?
