I sometimes regret not upgrading to a GTI. That was the plan but the VW dealership sold the one I had lined up on me. so I waled across the street and bought a taco

Refer to the PDF in my post which is from the 4Runner owners manual, that is a page from the section that lists the custom features available. I printed the pages off and highlighted what I wanted modified then had the dealership do the changes since it's done through their equipment, I lined this up with a 5k service. I also had them disable the seat belt chime and some other things.

Jumping onto VW comments, I also have a 2008 Audi S4 and that thing has features that should be standard on my 2012 4Runner and also my 2018 Tacoma...

Mods: Is this still a Tacoma?
Most vehicles do it nowadays...it used to be a luxury vehicle thing but most manufacturers started catching on because it’s a great and simple feature that only needs programming code in the ECU to accomplish which means no added overhead for the manufacturer to complement a sale. This should be standard nowadays like Bluetooth. Funny this thread popped up this week because a week ago I tried it with my FOB for kicks...and obviously we just didn’t get it with the Tacoma...I have this feature on my 05 Infiniti G35.

It’s true that it is easier to open four doors instead of four windows. This comment is useless

We actually ended up with a T4R because of dieselgate, we loved that Jetta TDI and sure do miss it.

I dunno we have had a few VW and always been good cars. I feel like the majority of people that hate vw/audi/bmw etc. are not diligent on maintenance. Euro cars need to be maintained, they cant be let go like a Civic or Camry.

People complain about electrical issues in vw/audi but that is because the cars are more complicated overall. Will I have electrical issues with the Tacoma? Probably not......because it has no electrical features. Honestly im surprised they threw us power locks/windows....still no auto up/down in the rear through. Maybe by the 5th gen model LOL

Other than maybe the head unit what is there? Power locks, windows, heated mirrors....I guess there is a phone pad charger but that thing has not worked correctly since mile 1 lol Mainly the basics other car have had for 30 years.

We dont even have a power gas door popper......I have to watch that thing in my rear view mirror flap in the breeze as I drive down the freeway. Look back at the gas door in the mirror next time you drive the truck you wont ever be able to un see it LOL

Like most modern vehicles, the Tacoma is controlled by a sophisticated computer system. The throttle is electronic. The transmission, timing, and fuel injection systems are all electronic. My 2018 has ABS, VSC, lane departure sensors, a radar-based anti-collision system, blind spot sensors, etc., etc. The list goes on and on and on.

I do all the work on my vehicles and have converted my 73 bmw from auto to manual. VW may have improved, but the oil sludge 1.8T is trash. CVT trannys failed around 60k too. My father had overheating issues with his MK1 and bus too. Both A4s did on me too

My friends who were heavily into the mod scene all had issues too right around 100k. Literally everything on the car had to be replaced. Everything. Maybe we all just had bad luck.

The whole truck is basically a computer on wheels.

We ended up with a Tacoma as well due to “diesel gate” and we miss the VW but at the same time I’m looking forward to having another vehicle that is not a giant pain in my ass and spending weeks at the shop. Also had a 06 Audi A3 and between the two it’s turned me off of all VW products. But the fit, finish and features are nice.
That being said I have had that feature on a few vehicles and have never used it and won’t miss the fact it’s not there. I’ve always just opened the doors and wait a few then open the windows get in and drive away as fast as possible in order to get the 50mph A/C going.

If I lived in Memphis I wouldn't be rolling my windows down for shit, especially If I'm not in it.

    Just some good advice.

I liked windows up with the fob (GTI). Nice to role them up and lock it at night (or raining) from in the house.
Tacoma has adaptive cruise which my GTI did not so there is that...

My 2015 Lexus IS250 has the roll down all windows feature. It's awesome! Especially on a hot day, let's all the hot air out of the car

There would be safety concerns with this. That is why you only see down capability

Vw Audi and others you can roll them up or down, even the roof. Some you may have to switch on through the obd but is quick and easy. My 07 and 15 gti you could do this. It's because in these cars, it's an option in the rest of the world that's switched on from the factory and not in the US. The tacoma has added a bunch of features for the third gen, they just work way worse than most other automakers with the same options. I mean shit, my 07 gti had rain sensing wipers, touch entry on both doors, etc. Toyota doesn't allow access to many features even through the obd, tech scan, what have you. Would be a nice feature though to do it on the fob or prolonged grab on the touch handle like others

The feature is not available on the Tacoma, unfortunately.
