Ya I've learned a few lessons from this experience...

As much as I'm sure some people can't understand, I've owned a 2013 TRD OR V6 4x4 6sp and my '96 was hands down my favorite vehicle ever. Probably because as I've now tested, it was kind of disposable. It was small and nimble, great gas mileage, fun as hell, and unique down here in Orange County. It will be missed. Hopefully the "new" '96 will be just as loved.

Thanks, this is super helpful. I am always down for a learning experience. It will just be a matter of fitting it in my garage.

Id chop the bed and rear end off. And turn it into your overland camper or whatever so it still matches your other taco. Then part out the front

Any headlight / grill parts you don't need I'm looking to get some to swap onto my 98 if you decide to part those out... Glad you're alright and you got another 96 so quickly

I think the grill is pretty intact. The bumper, not so much. But I'll let you know.

Undetermined. From the outside, it looks fine, but I haven't inspected it yet. My fingers are crossed though.

The crazy thing is while looking for a replacement truck, I found 2 or 3 options with their own Nest. It's crazy how popular this config is.

No stock bumper for me - just headlights and grill. I can't believe how good the truck looked after that. Seems like the camper acted like a rollcage!

I'm glad you came out of this ok. If I ever wreck mine I plan to hunt down a cheap DC (probably start with a PreRnr) from the South and rebuild. Good luck!

Personally, I'd take the rear end and make a trailer, for yourself or make some money and sell it. And then take the engine parts for yourself, coil packs, maf, etc. Then sell the block, and keep all the 4x4 parts for when someone wants to do a swap.

Is the windsheild broken and does it still fit? If it does i would just get a new fender and replace the broken front end bits and run it or turn it into a wheeler. Provided nothing structual is bent or broken under it. Need better pics of the damage.

Ya sadly the windshield frame is pretty damaged. Not to say it couldn't be fixed, it's just not worth fixing to me. I'm leaning toward making a trailer and parting out the rest

This would be perfect donor for a pre tacoma motor swap. Make sure that you dont cut the wiring harness. Also pull all the smog equipment including the exhaust all the way to the rear o2 sensor.
