I am looking forward to sleeping peacefully at night and not worrying about my catalytic converters being stolen.

i have never head of this ever being a thing unless you buy some addon product as part of the new car sale. I have purchased 4 new cars and they have never come with sealant on them, ive always had to do it myself

The post about ash or environment is probably the closest to hitting it. I was going to post if the truck is parked at a factory regularly, that exhausts chemicals, that could be a cause. We had issues at factory exhausting chemicals which was etching everyone's glass.

I only know because I asked them not to touch mine when it arrived. I’d do it. And the tube (which I still have somewhere) was in the glovebox.

You're "just sayin" this as if the finish of the Cybertruck won't come with its own challenges. I'd give that some consideration.

Lived for 20 years in AK. Some years I used 90% rubbing alcohol as washer fluid to melt the ice. It never ever hurt the paint or pump, or washer lines or anything else. If not 90%, it was RainX 50 below premix year around (you learn not to use summer mix ever), and still no problems whatsoever.

Lol at the benefits of a raw stainless body. Might ask Delorean owners about the cost of accident repairs. Hopefully all the panels on the cyber truck are plug and play.

In the summer I use mixture 50/50 vinegar and water and a drop of dish soap and works great.

ash is alkaline i believe so it makes sense that it damages the paint. imagine pouring drain cleaner on your truck...

If they dont cover it you should just get the roof wrapped in black vinyl wrap. Looks good and significantly cheaper than alternative options.

The clear coat on my roof failed like OP’s did, but it took 21 years to get that bad.

That stuff will not have any affect on the lifespan of the paint. The paint needs to be, and is, completely cured at the factory. That’s just a wax/coating that the factory gives the dealership to make it look pretty

This looks like my friend's 2010. I'm shocked that's a 2018. Unfortunately, at this point, I'm guessing sand and repaint is the only option.
