A pine cone dropped out of a tree and dented / chipped a significant amount of paint adjacent to the rack mounting channel. Will a touch up paint kit be sufficient? The dent doesn't bother me, it’s the idea of long term rust.

    Any recommendations would be appreciated.47683207-B0B2-4801-94CE-CE6AFE6D9F57.jpg

With a chip that large you probably want to go with a body filler. I've seen guys even use that for tiny rock chips. With that on there you'll know the paint will bond.

Filler or PDR if you want it to look newish again. Otherwise that will need sanding since the paint is flaking and then touch up.

That was much more than a hit from a pine cone to cause that damage. It need pdr, the paint looks to be chipping off too, I would bring it to a pro

Thanks! Sappy pine cones can do a lot of damage in Tahoe. The red marks and sap spray are indicators. A couple winters ago a ice block dropped out of the same trees and blew out my windshield and broke my wiper linkage on my older truck. I need to build a garage....
