I'd go with that if I had an LB... I have a cover and all my shortboards fit in the bed :D

Not sure what you're wanting to haul, but this cargo carrier is working well for my family & I when going on trips. We also bought one of the cargo bags.

Yep That's how I carry my board. I have the Thule Roof racks. But it's a real pain to get the board on my roof.:annoyed:

The tailgate soft rack is the best way to go! My SUP is 9' 6" Subvector C4.

I have a 10' Jimmy Lewis SUP that I had mounted on the cap of my Tundra, but I just traded it in for a Super White DC Tacoma with the 5' bed. Do you think the length of the DC is long enough to carry a 10' board?

I still have the Yakima cross bars and a Inno RV Board locker and it would be cool if I could use those.

    Thanks,
    Matt

Where did you get that? Link? I like that a lot, I'm debating on getting a roof rack just to help lug around my canoe. Is it easy to take out?

Just need to get a smaller SUP. I have a PSH 9'2, fit well in the 5' bed.

I made a bed rack for my canoe. Don't know how to post pictures. It works great so far. Tried it yesterday for the first time.

You guys ALL SUCK! I'm land locked in Salem, VA with a brand new 6'1" Quiet Flight in the basement for my 'occasional' trips to the beach with the family (once or twice a year). Whenever we head out, we always use the Sequoia so I've never actually had to take my board to the beach in the Tacoma. Too bad I can't find a GREAT JOB a little closer to the beach... :(
After 6 trips to Costa Rica (back in the late 80's was the first trip), 2 trips to Barbados and 1 trip to the big Island... I've all but gotten to the point where I simply dust off the boards before I use them... sad day. THANK GOD for FUEL TV!!!

I've had an SUV where my 9'6" LB fit inside as well as on top with a thule rack with Surf2 carriers. I now have my taco SB with a bed extender and it stands out but it does the job. I'd rather have a shell and may eventually get one but since I don't live on the left coast anymore I'll just make due with a BE.

Unless you have a shortboard that's 6' or less you're going to have to weigh putting it on top of the shell vs. in the bed with an extender.

The Bed Extender is cheaper than a camper shell but a shell is probably better in the long run. And a bed is great for dumping all your sandy junk.

In short, it's a compromise. There's no great answer out there. I've left my board on top of my SUV at times and no one messed with it so just keep an eye on it when you go out to eat after surfing...Good luck!

I agree with SaltySteve about Tacoma's with roof racks.

The factory roof rack really grown on me. At first I didn't like them, but after seeing a few around they look pretty neat. Plus I'll be taking my canoe alot more fishing. Hated having the thing in the bed. Can't wait to get mine Christmas.

Do that man! I would do the bed extender personally but that's because I routinely carry shit that's longer than the bed and as it looks, you have that issue solved for your board. Go for lockable storage that can function for your board too. Plus, the roof racks look tacky imho.

didn't you say you had a regular cab? the factory roof rack only fits double cabs.

CA Law states the weapon must not be transported loaded, which means that ammunition (including loaded ammunition carrying devices) may not be in nor touching the firearm. This has evolved into transporting each in a different bag/area - most cops tell people to put one in the truck and one in the cab on a car simply to make things easy to understand.

You'd be fine to put ammo in one bag and firearms in another the cab. Handguns must unloaded in a locked container, rifles do not have to be in a locked container.

I would never put firearms in a tool box. They're generally easy to break into and criminals do it all the time looking for tools.

I use a tonneau cover. I'm a competitive shooter so sometimes I'm transporting a lot of guns and gear. All my various range bags and rifle cases go in the bed, I lock the cover, and I'm good to go.

I bought this 2009 from a guy that had a black rack on top of a white 4dr and I think it takes away from the trucks looks, but it has several features on it
