it was 30 degrees in NJ today and I just wanted to mount the oem roof rack. I removed the weatherstrip. Great eaverything smooth. I remove the paint from over the bolt wholes. Great. I start to apply the bracket. Perfect passenger side is bolted with two screws just fine. I place the bracket over the drivers front side and the first bolt screws in great. The second one just slides into the hole. Here is the kicker there is no threading in this hole. That really sucks because I can't put on the roof rack and I have 5 open holes in the roof on each side open to the elements.

I was thinking to rivet nut thread myself. How do you think the dealer would fix the problem from the outside with a rivet nut or remove all the liner and fix it from the inside? I kind of don't want them to take apart the inside of the cab.
Any ideas? The truck is a 2017 double cab limited.

I would contact your dealership, they should fix that under warranty without issue, it was obviously a factory oversight.

They'll probably just use a tap and die set and make a larger diameter threaded hole

Like the way you typed, 'holes', very erotic. Op. Just get a 2 inch bolt, drill through the headliner and put a nut on the other side. Problem solved

Thanks AJMOGEN that is exactly what I needed. I knew there had to be a way without having to take the interior apart.

All of my "wholes" were threaded:devil: If you have the experience, just tap the unthreaded rivet. If not, wiser to take it back to the dealer.

Op. On a real note this time. I'd just take it to the dealer. Rivet Nut may be a good solution but I feel that if you go to 'set/expand' the rivet you may deform the metal around it. I would be scared to cause the metal to wrinkle or crease in some way...

Plus that may cause a leak too.

Weld the threaded sleeve on the inside of the cab roof.
