    Looks great! I love mine too!! I used to have the Yakima roof rack but I like the OEM one a lot better. The option to stow away the bars is awesome!!:D

    I'm going to call my local dealer and direct them to this site to see if they'll price match. If not, I pass this place on the way home and can stop in and get one ! Thanks for the link !

    Well, the link price of $222 was for internet purchase only, not local purchase, but I still called my local dealer and they matched the internet price, so I pick mine up tomorrow and install over the weekend. Hope to get my kayak rack identified, located, and bought soon after so I can hit the water again very soon !

    Any suggestions on DFW, TX area bargain-priced, yet high-quality kayak saddles ?

    Anybody know if:
    1) you can take the cross bars off completely;
    2) is there a channel/track so I can mount some special Thule feet designed for tracks in there?

    Got the rack picked up locally Friday for $222 and we installed it in about 45 minutes this morning. Simple installation and pretty good directions in the box. It would have gone a bit quicker, but we had to take the right side apart and tweak the front mounting bracket to get the housing to lay against the cab properly above the windshield. Initial install left the front left edge lifted about 1/8 - 1/4" so the rail looked twisted at the nose. It was ugly, would have increased wind noise and trapped dirt under it, so off it came ! If you don't have one, you should seriously consider one. The better look alone is worth it and the functionality is a bonus !

    I guess I am the only one that thinks it looks ugly! It actually takes away from the looks of the truck.
    However, I would install one if I had the need of the rack... since all my cars in the past have had roof racks on them, but with my long bed Taco, I just don't think I will ever need a rack.
    By the way, never seen a Taco with something on the roof, meaning, roof rack been used... I wounder what that would looks like?!
    So, for you guys that installed it. Is it true that you get some wind noise with the Roof rack?? Specially if it is "deployed"!??
    Cheers.

    It's too damn bad Toyota doesn't make a rack for the access cab. Never understood why that was. I'm guessing maybe it's because there are no center door pillars on the side .. so maybe it's a structural issue. But surely the cab has to be stronger than my fiberglass shell which supports a fully loaded rack.

    1) Yes, you can take the cross bars off completely by removing 1 bolt on each crossbar.
    2) There isn't a channel, but I have seen someone on here that uses Thule crossbars in conjunction with the OEM rack, leaving the OEM crossbars in the retracted position.

    Mine came with the truck when I bought it. Though I have yet to use it I think it looks great. Finishes it off in my opinion.

    I need the rack to haul a 15 ft kayak that would have entirely too much rear overhang if I used a bed-mounted rack like I've had in my last three pickups, thus the need for the cab-mounted rack. As a bonus, I happen to think the rack, in the stowed position, helps the look.

    As for wind noise, YES ! I was stunned when I took it out for a spin shortly after deploying the crossbars for the first time. There is a surprising amount of noise, and I haven't put the boat up there yet. Part of the surprise may come because of how quiet the truck is otherwise. As for seeing something on a Taco roof-rack, I should have my new saddles on next weekend and will throw the Prijon Calabria up there, snap a photo, post it, and then go hit the water.
