The roof Rack I got they gave it to me so no bolts or anything and then this generation of Tacoma isn’t really meant for a roof rack so I don’t know how to start it off other then making holes on my roof which I’m still kinda debating if I should or not

    4 run, 2 don't
@eon_blue used to, drilled through the roof and all.

He'll explain why he got rid of it; I know it killed his gas mileage and made wind noise non-stop.

I would start by getting the roof fixed

and then now that you have a nice roof, don’t drill holes in it

What kind of roof rack do you have? Meant to mount to a crossbar system?

I'm think there's some older towers from Yakima that work without drilling, but can be hard to find.

I had a higher profile Smittybilt rack with round halogen lights mounted to the front, so it had a negative effect on my mpgs at highway speeds and make a good bit of wind noise. The rack itself started to rattle where it was mounted too after a couple years.

I took it off, but because it required drilling I had to plug the holes. Used rivnuts and bolts. If I could do it all over again I would never have installed it in the first place.

It was good for having extra tie down points when carrying large items in the bed but that was about it. If you really want a roof rack, get one that doesn't require drilling your roof. There's really to upside to doing it and it will just create headaches for you years down the road.

Damn okay I see, I only wanted it to put the recovery gear up there but I’m really thinking about it now if you have pictures of how it was mounted send them thru

I don't have pictures but Smittybilt sells the mounts for the Defender roof rack separately so you can buy them to possibly mount other custom racks. You have to drill 8 half inch sized holes and it uses wellnuts (rivnuts made with rubber basically) that you drop into the holes and then thread the mounting bolts into
