Just brought home my new 2011 Tacoma double cab: love it: never used a roof rack; just figured out the cross bars fold back for some aerodynamic improvement: but: do the bars adjust in any other fashion (to allow positioning of a smaller profile item on the roof without actually touching the roof itself...help!!!

ckeeton: thanks for the info: one additional question: are there any additional smaller cross bars needed for the rack? Who has them:?

Yes: would appear that at least two would be needed to support a box or a cargo holder. Any leads on after market cross bars? Thanks!

It' really a low figure: think it's only about 85 pounds, which is about the equivilent of two medium to large suitcases.

OK: not a lot of weight: but: still think a couple extra cross pieces are needed.. oh well, it's not a perfect world! Any one know if a locking tailgate is on the horizon?
