    Hello,

I recently bought a used ARE shell that came with some IKEA roof racks that the previous owner had put on. I have since taken these racks off, but have kept the plates/brackets/receivers on the shell in hopes that I can use them with other brand racks. I'm unsure of what towers would even work with these brackets, if any at all, or if I should rather be removing them and replacing with different rails.

I have linked to pictures of the brackets and the racks. Please advise.

EDIT: The only thing that I've found so far that even resembles the racks are the Yakima 1A Raingutter towers

Not my first option as they look like they would stand very tall from the vehicle.

Those brackets are designed for a rack that clamps to a rain gutter. I had something similar on my last truck but they were full length instead of individual brackets.

The good news is that you should be able to find used towers/racks cheap (craigslist/ebay) because very few cars have rain gutters anymore. Check out Thule also.

Weird, the artificial rain gutters are designed to be mounted on the sides, not top (ex. https://www.etrailer.com/comparison.aspx?pc=Y08002&pc2=TH542 ). They were commonly used on VW Westys for example. They'll work that way if your clamp can grab enough of the rounded part but they're designed to have the weight of the rack in the gutter part itself. I'd take them off and either fill the holes or mount tracks using the holes as part of your mounting.
