Hey guys, brand new to the site. Awesome by the way, lots of great info. I have a 2004 DC Tacoma 2WD. When I bout it about 2 yrs ago it had a roof rack installed. I just removed the rack to change the look of the truck. Now I have 8 holes in the top of my roof (didn't think that one through). What do you recommend I do to remove the anchors in the roof an plug the holes with. Or just put the screws from the rack back into the holes and plug them with some type of silicon?

pics? Is this a factory roof rack?

but I would say go the bolt route with some silicone. Or put it back!

Pics are attached. I read on some other threads that the holes are there from the factory on double cabs only, but that was for 2nd gen tacos. Is there some type of plug that comes with the 1st gen taco? Also the truck has "Special Edition". Has anyone ever heard of that or is this just something from the dealer? It did come from with BBS wheels, blacked out headlights, truxedo (love that name), and running boards with lights.

boy those are some big holes, I would clean and wax your roof like crazy first, then put those bolts back in siliconed. Trying to think what you could do to make it smooth without painting and filler, but am drawing a blank.

If you dont want to fill and paint, you could get some button head bolts, silicone the threads and them paint the head of the bolts with touch up paint. If you could get a carriage bolt screwed in, it would look a little better.

Yeah, clean and wax the roof tomorrow for sure. I think the rack is oem. I was just wondering if all double cabs have holes in the roof and I am just missing the plugs. This is my first taco and it's awesome. Just trying to change the look up for a while. I just hope it doesn't leak like a siv now! I will contact dealer about plugs on Monday hopefully there is such a thing. Also I was thinking about adding a supercharger but I am about to hit 100K, do you think it's too late in the game for that?
