How well do the stock roof racks work? Are they sturdy or junk? Should I just go buy an aftermarket one or try to get a "stock" one for my 08 dbl cab?

I guess it would depend on what you wanted to haul up there. I have Inno 383 fork mount bike racks on mine and the racks work just wonderfully for that.

Now if you wanted to haul ladders and bagged concrete on it, I would say they will not suffice.

They work fine for a 6 or even 8 foot ladder, no dice on the extension ladder. we haul those little giant type ladders around on them just fine.
