Hi TW. It been awhile and I hope everyone is doing well especially during this interesting times. Recently I put together a removable roof rack and I’m looking for some ideas. What kind of storage containers are good options, waterproof and lockable? What are some good options to secure your storage containers/items? Post up, let’s see your roof rack setup.
I been driving around with the roof rack to get an idea for handling and wind noise. Maybe it’s me but I don’t notice too much of a difference in wind noise. The roof rack only weighs 36lbs but I’m sure if I was to load it up with 100lbs the handling would be affected.

Gawd your baywatch truck looks so good!!
I've never heard of Plano boxes, I'll have to look into that

@TacoJohn4x4 what's your goal with the storage? Are you wanting it to live up there 100% or easily removable and only have it when your cab is full of other stuff?

I have looked at those, specifically the all weather rifle case. Since it’s on my roof I wanted something a little more low profile. Are they permanently mounted or can you easily remove them on the go?

Good questions. Preferably something I can easily remove. That is one of the reason I went with the removable roof rack. I have a chest in my bed that I secured to my bed. That has all my tools, recovery gear, portable pump etc in it at all time.
For the roof rack storage I was thinking of camping, fishing, clothes etc. Those things don’t need to be carried on the truck at all times and I can remove them when not in use. However I wanted to see what other people were storing on top of their roofs, just tossing thoughts around.

Here’s a normal trail load out of my bed. The tool box is the only thing I leave in the bed at all times. The truck is also not my daily.

I kind of remember. We all have to start some where. Roll with the punches and keep going. Stay around long enough and people will change their tune.

Is that a Curt rack on the bed rack? If so, I hope you get better mileage than I did! SOB rusted up in just a couple of years.

Got two Pelican style 38” waterproof hardcases. As of right now I have them strapped down by the handles w/lock. I also got some drop in T nuts with eye bolts for extra tie down points or if I decide to perma mount the hardcases. So far I’ve used the hardcases like a suit case, his and her. In the middle I carried a couple fishing poles.

    Thanks again for the suggestions.
