Really interested in getting a roof rack on my DCSB but I'm not wanting to drill holes. Anyone seeing anything out there?

Cmon you know you want to drill into your roof, it's not so bad haha

For real though if you do go that route let me know, I'll give you some pointers that I should've done in hindsight.

There was a thread on here not too long ago about a roof rack for first gens that didn't require drilling, I'll see if i can find it

I believe the factory rack requires no drilling. I'm fairly certain there are threaded mounting locations under the rubber strips on the roof.

He's taking about first gens, factory roof racks were an extremely rare option for them...I think they only offered it for one year. Most first gens like mine had bare roofs.

I'm not sure what we're talking about here, but we definitely don't have a roof rack. Bed rack, yes.

Yakima sells roof racks with no Drilling. One place to check out would be Amazon. Just type in 2002 Tacoma Yakima Roof Racks

Dont buy a cheap one that straps on through the doors. I have one and took it off after a week. It doesnt stay in well when the doors are open.

Yeah the one I was thinking of strapped to the doors. I have a drill on Smittybilt rack and its very sturdy, but in hindsight I should've put a gasket down between the roof and the mounts. The mounts don't stay flush against the roof so I had to seal around them with black silicone. But the rack holds up well, I recommend it but it takes some guts to work up the courage to drill eight 1/2 inch holes in your roof lol

If you can get rivnuts, that would be good. It's what they use for later models and of course use a gasket or silicone to seal it so that no water gets in. If anyone knows of a solid roof rack good enough to hold a snowboard please post it!

The Smittybilt Defender rack I use is rated for up to 150lbs, held in place using 1/2" well-nuts...it's sturdy. I recommend laying a thin rubber gasket around the wellnuts though when mounting the rack as an added seal against water.
