I am installing a roof rack. I see the weight limit for the OEM rack is rated at 100 lbs, and have heard it carries far more than that. I also read that Yakima towers increases that weight limit, but I don't understand how it would do that. I will be carrying two kayaks on hullvators, and want to know if my kayaks will be safe.

I have the OEM roof rack and use it to carry an occasional ladder, long lumber, etc. I have no idea if adding those Yakima cross bars increases the load capacity, but I guess they might. I would have no issue carrying a single kayak up there. Carrying two boats is probably doable but I'm not about to tell you everything will be fine. The risk is yours brother!

PS: Invest in a two boat trailer, you'll never regret it.

I now realize that my kayak is too long to put on a bed rack and haul my rv at the same time. There, I am looking for a roof rack that bolts onto the roof of the cab, hopefully using existing screw holes, but would consider having someone install with new screw holes. I would put my hullavator on the cross bars that would need a slot in them, ideally could use with my existing Malone aero bars. Anything?

How long are the kayaks?? I have carried 2, 10 footers on my homemade bed rack. Works with my Pace Edwards canister bed cover too. I have Yakima roof racks and with risers, my bed rack is the same height for hauling longer items - 16' lumber, 24' extension ladder, etc.
