Hi all. For those that have had their roof repainted, did you have to have the rubber replaced as well? There seems to be rubber around the brake light, windshield, and roof rails, and I wasn't sure if these could be salvaged.

My truck is and 07 access cab. The rest of the pain is in great condition.

Also, what did you pay to have just the roof repainted?

The body shop will be able to tell you that. If I was going through the expense to do the repaint I’d replace all of it.

I imagine it would cost $500-$1,000 to repaint depending on the quality of the job.

A good shop that will do it right is going to charge a lot more. Especially if rust has started... and if you have rust... even with a repaint there is no promise it will not continue to come back.

If there is no rust you can look into Line-X options of vinyl wrapping that will cost much less.

I had a minor self induced booboo happen to the top of my cab (ended up filing an insurance claim and paid deductible $500  ) and had a local shop do the repair and paint.

The 3rd brake light will need a new gasket as its 3M on the cab side if I remember correctly.

The roof drain rubber strips could probably be had super cheap on Amazon I would imagine.

I would ask around your area for a trusted shop and go talk to them. Usually they will lifetime warranty the work (which is nice)
