No matter what you sleep in, RTT, tent, back of truck, trailer. If the bears are a problem, the food and smelly stuff gets stored away from sleep quarters. Up a tree, bear proof locker.

My trailer is a giant steel bear box that I sleep on top of. As long as @MJonaGS32 is around they will eat him first.

yes but with those trailers your kitchen is often in there so even if you move your food you still cooked it there.

Don't have an RTT and don't really have a dog in this fight. If an RTT makes it so you camp more often, because it's so damn easy and you don't have to leave when there's inclement weather, it's probably right for you.

As far as the cost goes, people spend way more on RV's and trailers. And long travel, lockers, regearing, armor, etc. As others have stated, if you use it, it's not a fad. This can't be compared to using a fidget spinner or shit like that, because the RTT is actually functional. The cost can be easily justified.

Ground tent vs. RTT is like comparing an awning to a tarp and poles. I have both. Not going to setup my tarp on a quick lunch stop with the family in full sun. Or rain. I'll take the 2 minutes to setup an awning any day. Again, not worth the money to some, but definitely worth it for me.

I went a different route because my wife and kids like the camper and probably wouldn't be down for a ground tent or RTT in winter. I also like standing up inside. And camping in the ski resort parking lots when it's 25° and below. Also trying to get camp setup down to 2 minutes and packing under 5 minutes. Why? Because that's what I'm willing to spend my money on. My time outdoors is limited and I'd rather spend it fucking around than packing and organizing gear. The sacrifice is obviously weight, clearance, and cost.

    Different strokes for different folks.

I was about to say the same thing about grizzlies/black bears... Then I realized we probably camp in the same area.
Are you sleepin' with MY glock 20!? :duel:

    $6 tarp!

    --

Dog sleeps in my ground tent, haven't taught him to climb ladders.. so no RTT for me.

That's not the issue. My family and lack of PTO make me camp less. Would be almost non-existent without the camper. Got the camper back at the end of April and only have 14 nights in it.

up at the girlfriends trailer park someone came one weekend with one of those little tear drop style ones. Girlfriend fell in love with it.
Actually thinking that might be a good choice for us for traveling the country together. Same case as you she wouldnt be fond of the RTT and would be nice to keep the dog with us.

Pretty much what I do already haha. just use a tarp. but ya can't see the pup climbing a ladder to sleep with me.

If I ever come across a great deal on a RTT I might get one and use it every once in a while. But for the most part I prefer my ground tent.

depends on the type of dog maybe lol.
my pooch right now is too old to come but once she's gone going to have a german shepherd again and bring. A bit too big and heavy to carry up

Plus I just dont want to climb down a ladder to go piss in the middle of the night.
