    Hey guys , new here!
Looking for some advice and information on RTTs that fit on the back of the short bed without going about the cab. Only problem is is that I’m trying to sleep 3. Myself, my wife and our 8 year old daughter. I understand I’ll probably have to deal with it hanging off the back of the truck some which looks odd of course but then again I’ll only be keeping the tent on when we go on trips because when I’m not it will be stored.
Anybody else have a similar size family and have any recommendations?? TIA!

Well to start, the short bed inside dimensions are 60.5", plus then the front rail and rear tailgate thickness. I don't know their exact sizes, but that should put you around 65". At that size, you could fit a 23Zero Walkabout 64 which would fit 3 comfortably. Our 56 fits two great but a third of any size would be tough.

Really depends on what platform you plan to hold the tent. Anything that doesn’t clear the cab will have to hang out the backside unless you have something that will clear the cab. The ikamper skycamp and roofnest condor fit perfectly for mid height bed racks. 3 people would be a little squeeze but not much. Consider those as a queen size bed. They also have bigger versions of those two which fit 4 people easy. Consider those king size beds but they will hang out the back on midsize racks or you can always go higher and clear the cab. Here is a big version of the ikamper skycamp for reference. Overhangs on the cab side but not by much, less than halfway into the rear passenger door.
A completely different option is ground tents like the gazelle and the Shiftpod. We just got a Shiftpod for when we don’t need to use the RTT. 040B0EAA-57EE-4A4C-AF3B-B6DA4504B76D.jpgAD51188E-1AFA-4A5A-8303-ADA9E6B0136C.jpg
