I am sure there is a thread for this in here somehwere, but I've got a first gen tacoma with an ARE topper on it. For whatever reason 6 years ago when I ordered it, I must've missed adding the roof tracks. I am looking to add tracks, then putting the Prinsu Universal Top Rack on it.

What are the best tracks for that? I've heard most of the choices but cannot decide on the definitive one. What Y'all think? TIA

I would run the Thule or Yakima Roof tracks, and for roof racks theres about 1million options but prinsu, sherpa designs, are gunna be my favorites.

haha no "gunna"as in "going to"

sherpa makes top quality stuff. You could also always build your own and save a bunch of money. Im making some CNC files for the side plates right now. I would be down to share them for cheap.

For what its worth i went with Front Runner on my ARE and have been happy with it. Previously used their racks and always work well. Comes with everything you need and install is straightforward.
*Oh and note I went with the taller mounts, they have a short option as well.

Don't have many photos on hand...

First gen love. Looks great. I have heard good things about Front Runner slimline, Did you already have the tracks on your ARE?

The tracks come with the tray when you order. (I purposefully ordered my shell without the tracks ARE uses...which I think are Yakima...I cant remember.)
Also you don't have to go full tray with FR if you don't want or need one, you can get a load bar kit. Super affordable and they're stout.

FYI the 44” wide prinsu is more appropriate for the 1st gen. That’s what u have on mine. I think 47” would be too wide.
