The passenger side roof trim on my 2018 came partially off during a drive through car wash. I clicked it back into place but it looks like it might have been glued down originally.

Does any one know if the roof trim is factory glued in place? The drivers side seems to not be glued down as well. What glue should I use?18C3BB28-B694-4693-B038-77941184F8E4.jpg

Its not glued, but held down with thick 1/4 double sided tape. I took mine off with a roof rack install and reattached with layers of outdoor ds tape.

Maybe it’s just me, but I definitely wouldn’t use epoxy like someone else recommended.
Just clean the channels and trim, then add a few thick dabs of cheap silicone every foot or so, then snap it back in. Easier and cheaper than double sided tape too.

I would use some 3M trim adhesive.

Mine came off a couple of months from new. I don't know when or how, I just noticed it one day. The replacement had a small bit of double sided tape near the front, I added a couple of dabs of RTV silicone and shoved the new strip into the channel. Still attached approx 5 years later

    This.

Could even get the adhesive silicone from an auto parts store. Silicone is removable if you ever have a reason to remove the trim. Epoxy guarantees you will destroy the trim, and likely the paint under the trim if you ever have to remove it later.

Never go through car washes. Already several posts about how automated car washes damaged the roof molding.

I just added good 3M double sided tape, it is the thick version, I believe there is a gap you need to fill.
Also, yeah the carwashes are hard on paint and other things, I only use them once or twice a year, in the winter to spray off road salt.

I've went once or twice a week for two years. Zero damage to anything. They also cover anything factory and have cameras. My truck seems to love it.

This happened to mine after a touchless wash and became a PITA. Tried using 3m tape and still would fly off when going down the interstate causing black marks on the side of the truck.

I've read a few threads where the dealer would fix, under warranty i'd try that first

I got to checking my other trim pieces and noticed my door weather seal rubber is loose at a lot of places.

It seems like the roof trim valley might become an area for rust to develop.

its not sealed forsure and used as a water channel to escape. Which is why would also caution against permanently attaching the trim. If i remember arnt there plastic barbs near the front that hold it down? Perhaps the tabs became worn or broken off requiring replacement.

I second this. I run mine through a touchless weekly in the winter here to get the salt off. No issues so far.

Lesson learned, lost my driver side and it was mangled in the wash. Going to file a claim to get it replaced, but can't find a part number, does anyone have an accurate part number for a left side for a 2017 Sport? My eyes are glazed over from trying to dissect the different diagrams I've been looking at. Any thanks would be grateful.
