For everyone who runs their truck with a topper and roof rack- has anyone thought of making a ladder? I want to do something like Gobi or the OEM Forerunner, but that can be detached. Has anybody put thought into this?

I think someone had made one that goes down the side of the shell

That’s not a bad way to go. Probably easier to install, but I can’t imagine it would be good for fuel economy.

I had the same thought, although it was pretty low profile

Do you have any links or anything?

I’m not much of a craftsman, but I’m tempted to try and make something.

I'm unfortunately going strictly off memory.

I don't think you could feasibly do one on the rear shell window because it can't hold that kind of weight, best bet would be to fab up something that could fold down off the roof and over the side in my opinion. doesn't hurt mpgs

I have an idea that a small ladder could have clips that attach to the last bar on the Prinsu rack (or any rack), and bottom brackets that attach to something on the bumper. It could be removed easily, or stay in place when you drive.

That’s not bad. Not as semi-permanent as I was thinking, but at least I’m not the only one looking for a solution haha.

I think the guy at New Holland Overland in Michigan was building a rack with a ladder? Check it out on FB, not sure he is on here.
