This may be overkill but I insured both my tent and awning. I pay once a year and if it gets damaged or stolen they will cover it up to $2000. I know this doesn't help out in the moment your in the middle of your trip getting restocked on groceries and someone swipes in the store parking lot but this definitely eases the mind.

My tent is 120lbs and I have zero doubt that it could be removed faster than a set of wheels.

I keep a 30ft steel cable wrapped around the tent, through the bed rack, spare tire and hi lift.

My tent is covered under my car insurance, and if the guy can get it off my truck and outrun my marlin 45/70 he's earned it

I use the TuffStuff Security nuts, the sell em for their RTTs and their Awnings. similar concept to #5 in the picture displayed above. Cost about $50 for a full set. IMO well worth the peace of mind and added security.

Luckily, I think a lot of thieves wouldn't recognize what a rooftop tent is or the value of it but if/when they do, they will definitely steal it so do what you can to make it harder I suppose.

I'll have to look for a picture but I used these shear nuts that leave nothing but a cone once you're done. The only way you're getting my tent is by cutting it off!
