Actually on a 3.4 w/ mileage on it......I'd rec'd it. Too bad it got so much more expensive. Strange that they all did except Mobil 1.....it pretty much stayed the same.

one of my neighboring machine shops said he got a 1960s corvette 327 engine in with over 150k miles that looked as clean as when it had 5 miles on it. it was sparkling inside. owner said he only used delo 15w40. if you want to do 1 oil change to clean the engine, give it a try! im seriously considering it myself.

and one of my tractor/HD mechanics swears by it as well. he puts it in all his vehicles and has been for years.

I see you are in Denver. Hit me up if you want to ride with the Miata group, one of this Saturdays. One thing though, we only slow down for cops...

I'll send you a PM next time I can do a drive. We usually meet at Woolly Mammoth, just across the Conoco gas station.

How do you know your engine needs to be cleaned out anyways?
If it were me I'd get one brand of oil and stick with that. Oils have additives in them to keep the seals from drying out. Different oils have different amounts of those additivesand switching oils often could lead to an oil leak.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
A nice thought, but even the same brand of oil changes their additive package pretty regularly, so nothing is ever the exact same. Check out Bob is the Oil Guy, some cool info there

I remember seeing something about some type of car was getting sludge build up and the manufacturer told everybody to run Pennzoil platinum to fix or prevent buildup

I use it at every oil change. Good stuff. It's cheap and works well. Lots of turbo guys use it.

Reading about delo oil, sounds that's some real good stuff. I'm just afraid ruining my catalyst convertor will get ruined.

Glad to see people running this stuff in their Tacomas. Just bought my truck yesterday and ran a search on here to see people run Rotella.

I got into the stuff when I used it in my turbo Subarus.

Keep in mind though when it's cold out (32 and blow), it really thickens up. My Forester XT had a piston slap issue on cold morning start ups. Ran this oil and it was gone, but when the cold weather came, piston slap issue came back until the car warmed up. I usually changed oils during winters when i was living in the east coast.

I let my oil temp get to above 100F before I even move my g8 in the cold
