rotor diameter

    2010 4x4,dc,off road, black pearl
    so i start my back rotors and pads after the auto store closes (not recomended) and the rotor they gave me is 3/4" smaller in diameter than the factory. the pad hangs off about 1/4". I will be going back in the morning to ask anyway, but just thought i could get a quick after hours answer here. do the pads have to be 100% on the rotors, or is this exceptable?
