    Hey guys,
When I had the new tires installed the tech was telling me these rotors are usually replaced instead of resurfaced. I've always had my rotors resurfaced and install some akebono pads
Is this guy full of it or should I replace them even if theyll still be in spec with the resurface?
I have 6 lug wheels and 4 piston calipers but they just dont stop like I thought 4 piston calipers would. I think they are just glazed. No noticable warpage

Powerstop rotors are about $35 each. Turning costs, what? $20-$25 each? Plus a two trips to whoever will still turn them. Plus at least a four hour gap where you're waiting to be able to work on your truck. Plus a second vehicle to run the rotors around in because your truck is down.

I replace. I have all the parts on hand, do the job without interruption, save myself hours, all at the cost of about $20. Every 70,000 miles or so?

I knew it sounded weird. I've been resurfacing rotors for the last 14 years and never heard of that but I just wanted to be sure since this is my first tacoma I've worked on since my first one I only had 2 years from new.

Ill resurface these. As for the drums, I read here that toyota oem replacements is best but I'll probably just resurface these

Maybe they can be resurfaced maybe not. They will have to be measured first. For the cost difference I just replace them. The thinner they are the more likely they will warp when they get hot. Then you still need new rotors.

Unless you have horrible braking distances or bad brake shudder, there's no need to get them replaced OR resurfaced.

Braking isn't the best but I think I'll just leave it for now. Ac delco rotors are $32 so I'll probably go that route
    Thanks guys

I wouldn't bother with aftermarket.. I think a lot of people have trouble with them. Especially the drums. Not sure about discs

In theory new pads fresh surface .

With the cost of rotors and drums so cheap much quicker to install new .

I don`t know any shops that still turn rotors or drums in house then you also have a bay tied up for the turn around time
