    Hi,

I purchased the Rough Country 3.5" lift kit with the add a leaf leaf spring pack. I'm very happy with the result and the ride is not bad at all. My only complaint is the bushings on the rear leaf springs squeak. Does anyone else have a problem with this?

The Toyota dealer told me to use white lithium grease on the bushings or replace the bushings with polypropylene bushings. Does anyone have any links, how to's or advice?

It's probably the leafs, you have to get between them and lube up. Poly bushings often make even more noise

Thank you for your response, I looked into it a little more, I noticed one of the brackets that goes around the leafs looked like it was rubbing on one side, so I tapped it over a bit with a hammer, that was one problem, the other place I started hearing it, was the top of the rear shock, so I took those bushings out, and put a little grease on them, then when I put them together I made sure I held the top of the shock bolt with a vice grips as I was tightening the nut so the rod would not move. So for now, the squeak appears to be gone, but I saw another thread on youtube about lubing bushings, and if it sounds like the bushings are squeaking I may try that next. I'm hoping I fixed it already lol. Here's a link to a video I saw on lubing bushings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbgEvh-rSl4 Looked interesting and it was pretty short.

The dreaded squeak is back. It sounds like it's on one side and it sounds like the rear shock. Has anyone else had this issue? I have the Rough Country N3 shocks.

Is the squeak from the leaf spring back? I installed the Icon RXT leaf pack last summer and have had intermittent squeak since. I’ve used a few different lubricants to fix the issue but they all seem to wear off after a couple weeks.

This sounds like it's coming from the shock, but it's had to tell because the leaf springs also move a little when the shock moves.

I found my squeak by having my son hop on the bed while I listened. I have yet to pull apart to do a ful grease.

Do you feel the squeak is in the leaf spring bushings?

I completely removed the leaf springs, and greased the bolts that go into the leaf spring mounts/shackles/rear shocks. Still squeaks. Only thig I can think of now is that it's the bushing. I could not get the sleave out of the bushing that appears to be making the noise, but I think that is the issue. I just hate to take it all apart again.

Me too. That’s why I’ve put up with it for so long. May just pay someone with a lift to do it.

Just an update, I received a call from Rough Country last week. They have been researching the issues with the leaf spring squeaks. They narrowed it down to the front bushings, and some of the nose in the springs themselves. The sent me the new refined springs over the weekend. I'm hoping to replace them in the next day or so. I'll include pictures of the differences in the springs. I was very impressed with Rough Country contacting me back and their efforts in customer service and support for backing their product. I'll be honest, they sent me a 2nd set of springs a few months ago, I replaced my originals and still get some noise out of those, so I just figured they sent me one set so be happy they at least did that, but they actually contacted me out of the blue and told me their R&D department has been working on this and wanted to send me a new set once again. They told me the new ones have Teflon pads between the springs, and the shackle bolts have a newly designed nurl cut washer and sleeve installed so the sleeve should not spin inside the bushing. I did look at the new ones and can definitely see the difference. I'll take a few photos of old vs. new to show the differences. Just wanted to share my update.

I just got my replacement set of leaf springs installed.. a week later the squeak came back. I’m glad I’m seeing your update, I’m going to call them myself instead of the shop i was working with and see if they will send these new versions out to me. Looking forward to your update.

    Hi,
I installed my 3rd set of springs about a month ago. They are definately quieter, but there is still a squeak. It's not near as loud as it used to be. The first few weeks I didn't hear anything. I can live with it. I think it's coming from the bushings in the front shackle. I will contact Rough Country again and report my feedback. It takes me about 3 - 4 hours to swap these springs out. I don't have a lift, just a hydraulic jack, some jack stands and some blocks. I have improved on the process lol, but I never thought I would have to install more then one time. I will update when I have more info.

Hi, can you post pictures of the old RC leaf springs and new improved RC leaf springs as a comparison?

Purchased the same kit, it's the bushings, they squeak like crazy. You have to lube the inside of the sleeve, bolt shaft (not threads) washers, sides of the bushings, even put some on the bracket surface. Quiet so far

Where you able to resolve your issue with the squeak or did rough country did anything or would it be better to buy a deaver 1.5 add a leaf and avoid the squeak
