Rough country lifts.... if where to get one 4inch or 6 inch

    But why?? It makes sense if u get coilovers to provide a full 6 inch lift. .. why do so many members frawn apon the db lift.? U get near factory specs yet can clear a 33 or 35" tire. Seems like the best options honestly.

    If u go with a 6" drop bracket but use OME 888 with maybe a 2 " top SPACER. u would get a good 5 or 6 inches but factory c.v angle and ball joints would be factory.

    I have had nothing but bad luck with lift coils and no drop bracket...cv angels sick...And aliggnement sucks. ..drop bracket lift is way to go..

    6inch lift sitting on bilstein coilovers. Lexus is300 studs in front to keep stock wheels, general grabber red letters, nfab front bumper.
    I have a db fabtech lift. Works fine. Full length coil overs and alcan leaf packs are coming soon.

    In my opinion drop bracket lifts are fine if you're only doing the lift for looks. If you want more ground clearance, articulation and better off-road capability I would look into a shock/spring + upper control arm set up.
    A somewhat inexpensive route would be Bilstein 5100 shocks, OME, Toytec, or Eibach front springs, an add-a-leaf kit for the rear, and some decent upper control arms would sort you out pretty well. Just my $0.02.

    Biggest problem is offroading damage or even collision damage. I've seen trucks fold due to simple accidents, the leverage of the drop bracket pushing back causes havok on the weak points.

    It's fine if you want to run 35's but I wouldn't offroad with a drop bracket beyond simple trails. Insurance should cover damage from an accident but it can be iffy.

    I think mods should be reversible. Once the frame is cut, it relaxes and you would need to jack the frame apart with a spreader and weld in the section.

    Tunrdas have a 4" drop bracket kit that has no need for frame cutting, I prefer that style but it simply doesnt exist for the tacoma.

    You probably got dirt in between the leafs or they need some grease in between them.

    I have a 4in RC on mine with 33's on 20 x10 wheels -24 offset a little rubbing minor trim very pleased with it no complaints. In fact this is my 2nd db lift my first and still have on my 2001 supercrew with 7.5 in Fabtech lift no issues with it .

    Jack the rear up and support it from the frame. Make sure to use plenty of Jack stands. Pry apart leafs with a big screwdriver and squirt some grease or whatever that stuff you said up in there.

    Why do you keep posting about lifting your FJ in a Tacoma forum thread? We are glad you like your FJ and your lift, but your experience with it does not apply to a Tacoma.

    Because the lift quality isn’t going to change by vehicle. Rough country is fine. Just don’t expect it to be incredibly off-road worthy.

    I see dudes at stage3motorsports beat the piss out of their f150s with DB lifts all the time though.

    I agree they work, but half of his comments are about not having to cut on an FJ.
