About to install a 6" suspension lift on my 2016 Tacoma. I'm getting steered toward a Rough County 6" suspension lift. I heard the BDS is a great lift, but will cost a $1000 extra.

I want to do occasionally off road in & don't want to spend a $1000 extra for a name.

I'm hoping the Rough Country is a great affordable lift, without compromising quality.

I'm hoping Rough Country is better, since I'm about to have one installed. I have no idea and was hoping someone would know, prior to me getting a lift installed.

Yeah, I've heard mostly negative reviews regarding Rough Country, from all the reading on lifts I've done on this board and elsewhere. For what it's worth.

I'm here in the Houston area and several shops have recommended it. The first try to sell me the BDS lift and then recommend the Rough Country as an affordable mid grade lift.

For all of you telling me Rough Country is horrible, which lift would you recommend that's not a high dollar lift????

    Brother, some advice.

Like you, I am modding my 04 TRD and wanted to jump in with lifts, sliders, bumpers, etc. I was about to jump on a few things when the best advice I got from the Gen 1 Forum: slow down and read.

I would suggest waiting a few days and researching on the Gen 3 site some suggestions, do some research, etc. You might (i.e. likely) find something better for your $ and purposes vs. someone trying to push you to a lift kit.

I'm setting up for sliders and wheels next week and frankly, had I not pumped the brakes and looked around on the Forum for a couple months, I wouldn't have found the perfect sets at the perfect price. Did the research and discovered what was quality and what was not.

Just thought I'd share my experience and some advice. Both are free.

    Good Luck with your build.

That's just it, there isn't one that isn't "high dollar".

Rough country will do what you need it to do, for the height you want, for the price you want.

A lot of these folks are serious off road folks and rough country is garbage for that. (According to them).

I had a 3" suspension lift on my 05 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport (long bed) and it still was not the look I wanted. I've spoke with several Tacoma owner's I flagged down to inquire what size lift they had, which they replied a 6" suspension lift. My 2016 Tacoma has a long bed as well, so that is the main reason I wanted to go with a 7" lift.

^^^ Man, you got me beat. We didn't flood here but were cut off for 2 days with the creeks around us flooding. Worse than T.S Allison for sure.

Lets forget our lifts... lets buy boats!

I have heard Rough Country is like a dealer lift, they use them to sell trucks for more money, Pro Comp BDS are thicker metal and whatever they can do to have a higher quality. I don't off road mine either and I used a pro comp stage I and it is just fine..
