I’m thinking about ordering the Rough Country 3” lift. Has anyone tried this lift? I know there’s a lot out there about RC but this seems nicer and newer than the stuff I’ve seen on this forum.

For less money, you can get a Bilstein/OME set up with an AAL instead of blocks. And 3" is pushing it on needing new UCAs. Most of us don't go over 2.5" without them, and after lifting my truck I can see why

What do you want the lift for? Looks, trails, rocks, mud, etc?

I've only seen complaints with RC. If you're aiming for 3" you will also want to upgrade the UCA's and either AAL or a upgrade to a full leaf kit to even out the rear end. So just keep that in mind.

Negative on Junk Country, as stated get Bilstein 5100's at a minimum. And 2nd Gens do not need a diff drop.

OMG, you need to do lots of research before you buy anything. There's alot more to lifting these trucks than just installing a set of coilovers or spacers. Good luck with your truck.

I’m not doing rock crawling. Just want more clearance for tires 285/70/17 and more ground clearance for mild off-roading. 5100’s are the next cheapest but I only get 2.46” of lift Do I need a UCA with a 2.46 or 3” lift??

Put 5100's on OME 887's and you will get 3 inches of lift in front. As far as 285's I hope you researched about fender trimming, Cab Mount Chops etc.

As far as UCA's every truck is different but for 2.5 and above it is highly recommended.

I bought my truck a few months ago and it has the 3" Rough Country Lift with the front upper strut extensions (the version you are looking at has new coilovers). As far as appearance, the lift looks great. The truck certainly runs a little rough on the road and I have been hesitant to take it off road knowing this type of lift can limit the travel. I don't think that would be as big of an issue for the setup with new coilovers rather than spacers.

My truck is a 2014 with 40K miles and I don't know when the lift was installed, but the rear shocks are showing some rust in multiple places. Living in Las Vegas, rust is not a big issue, so I was a little surprised to see it. That being said, I don't know what the previous owner did with the vehicle, but not too much considering it only had 40k miles in 6 years.

I have already purchased the Old Man Emu suspension lift with new leaf springs, but that will continue sitting in my garage until the weather is more suitable for auto work.

Edit: I am currently running P285/70R17s
