run the truck until the engine gets warm, then shut it off and let it cool. if there is water in the oil you should see a whitish residue inside the fill pipe or high on the dipstick where the moisture will condense. I would definitely check the front diff oil and the transfer case. water may have displaced the oil and it could have adhered to where you saw it on the front of the truck. also you may want to tell him to dry the rear brakes out.

I dunno...it sounds like you need smarter friends. I ditched my dumb friends and life is a lot better that way.

I feel bad that your friends truck is having some trouble. Everyone has driven somewhere they shouldn’t have or gotten stuck at some point. But if he won’t change the oil, you can’t fix stupid.

His avatar is the interior of a 2nd gen, so we have to give him the benefit of the doubt that he actually is asking for a friend. It did cross my mind though when I started reading the debacle.

If he does not change the oil, move this to the man card revocation post. For the price of a pair of skinny jeans or a Vans he can put his mind at ease.

Yeah. If I put my truck in a creek that deep, and that cold, for that long, I'd be looking for a new truck. To hell with wondering if I should change the oil! And something else. From the looks of the truck, he just parked his daily driver in a frozen creek for the night. Sheeeit. He had to be drunk, fucked up, or both.

^^Do this. I would also check all zerks on the front end of control arms and U joints and grease them. clean out front brakes. having it sitting that deep in water for that long can cause some damage, even worse if it was ice. would definitely look at changing front diff oil if he had some seepage in there, as its not perfectly watertight and it was underwater. its one of the quicker ways to turn a 4wd into a 2wd

I'm curious, why are you having the dealer search for the whole bed? Each side is a separate part. @Gunny searched and said no boxes where available. Was a search for just the side made?

    Edit: wrong thread
