    Bilstein 5100
Hello everyone, new to the site and looking for some help. I have a 2010 Tacoma 4x4 extended cab with 48,000 miles. This is my baby and I recently upgraded to a Bilstein 5100 shock/strut and was to have a 2.5 lift, but it ended up being only 1.75? Prior my truck was solid on the road and now at 50mph it shakes bad. I pulled a trailer that I have pulled many times barely knowing it was there, and now the truck rode so rough I thought I was in a Ford! Has anyone else had this issue with this shock system. My truck is not off road, just wanted a little more height. Appreciate your time.

You compressed the spring to get that lift? Did you get an alignment after the lift? What did you put in the rear to get the lift?

There was an alignment, actually 2 as the first one pulled to the left and had to be re-done. I had the work done by 4 Wheel Parts, so I do not have the details on install specs. I was told that one side was slightly off to the other? The lift was the bring the front up primarily. I was also told the tires were feathered. Tires are BF Goodrich All-Terrains with less than 20,000 and no problem prior.

5100 Bilsteins are "stiffer" than any factory shock offered by Yota. I've towed up to 7K lbs with my Taco, after I installed the 5100's, and the ride was just fine. I too have B.F. All terrain tires. And no, I don't have any of the problems you describe. The 5100's have been on my truck for over 6 years, and 75K miles.

Stacked spacer lift, 22x12 wheels with stretched 33's, tow mirrors, bull nuts.
I'd first check tire balance. Perhaps a weight got knocked off.

Is the vibration there only when towing?

Do you have the coils compressed to much?

You need to ask them for the papers for the work done on your truck...not knowing what was done is not exactly a good idea, especially if your saying if this is your "baby" :boink:

Did they just install 5100 all the way around and at what clip/perch setting is it set at?, did use aftermarket springs like OME 887 or did you use the stock springs, how was the rear end lifted...aal, 3 leaf aal, blocks, full leaf pack. Or did you leave that stock cuz you said you just wanted to "primarily" lift the front, what tire size are you running?

**What was your alignment numbers off the alignment sheet which is the most important if they had to do it twice... Upper control maybe needed...

5100s are proven as a good set...as many run them in different variations.

You want help we need details...
