I installed the rear aal on my 5 lug and I noticed that it rides so much harder. My mechanic said that shocks wont make that much of a difference because there is little room. What can I do?

If you still have your stock rear shock you should probably replace that since its to short now

What leaf pack do you have under the 5 lugger? 3+overload?

You could pull one of the leafs from the pack, reinstall the overload and aal and see how it rides.

Its not to difficult and I would think the centerpin has enough threads on it. If not...just get a grade 8 bolt the proper length and replace it.

That happened with mine. But it was because they are new and it's much stiffer. After a couple weeks you won't notice it.

Just talked with a buddy of mine and he said the same thing. I hope it gets better over time. I will tell you all how it is with the bilsteins as well

I recently did AAL and it seemed a little stiffer but nothing major. I put Procomps on and ride is pretty close to stock. Reviews are mixed on the Procomps so if I have any problems with them I will switch them out. Mine seemed to be O.K. with the stock shocks too but I had the procomps so figured I would just use them. What Bilsteins are you gonna use? Keep us posted.

The stiff ride since the AAL install is the nature of the beast. It'll settle out a little, but that ride will never be 'plush'. If you want a plush ride, you'll want a full leaf pack from someone like Deaver.

I was thinking 4600s in the front and 5100s in the rear

I just installed mine last week, however, have not driven the truck that much but I did noticed a stiffer ride, hopefully it gets better over time. I used the fat bobs kit with the longer add a leaf.

Its gets better with time but will never be the same. Mine seemed to smooth out a little bit after 500 miles or so

Flex the springs by driving thru a ditch at an angle several times and/or haul a heavy tongue weighted trailer several times to speed up break in. I have 20k miles on the same setup and they soften up after some use.
