In my 3rd Gen (just over 1600 miles), manual transmission, I find that shifting from 1st to 2nd to 3rd feels kinda rough, unless I'm revving high. Is that the triple synchros? Also when shifting from 5th to 6th I feel a small blip/kick when I release the clutch unless I roll off the clutch. This happens to anyone else?

Every clutch is different every vehicle is different. I just push mine in and let it out and it works. I don't expect a lot because it is a truck, not a Ferrari.

My 2017 5spd MT has been the same way since day one. I find that stepping on the clutch pedal as firmly as possible helps, which makes me wonder if the master cylinder in these trucks tend to trap air, so bleeding the system isn't getting all the air out.

I like that you call it crunchy. That really is the best description of it.

So you experience the same crunchiness when shifting as well then?

It was more prevalent for the first 10K miles and now that I am close to 30K It is fine.

The 5spd is exactly the same as your description of the 6spd, after 3rd it's smooth.

Rough like the shifter action is notchy, or does it feel like the syncros aren't quite up to the job on certain gears?

My 5-spd manual's very notchy, always has been, even at 46k miles. It reminds me of my suzuki samurai haha.

Rough like shift action is notchy. Gears engage fine.

I would say mine feels like the blocking ring is allowing the shift slightly before the gear speeds are fully sync'd, both with soft/slow and hard/fast shift. I've never had a true grind that could be heard, only crunchy feeling in the stick like the gear teeth aren't meshing properly. (still less that 5k miles)

Pop the clutch (5000 rpm) and stand in it.

You guys are babying your rides too much.

@TriniPhantom Try shifting 1-2 quickly after clutching (get from 1-2 before the rpm's drop 300rpm). That was recommended in a prior thread, and it does seem to smooth it out a bit; just don't miss the shift!.

As fyi, I mentioned it during my first service to make sure it was documented (they just noted- No TSB available) and I plan to live with it until closer to the 5/60 warranty. If it's still an issue, I'll deal with it then.

Yea it just really feels like the synchros are syncing up.
I would agree that the higher the rpm the smoother the shift.

    3 things in my mind.

1 - you're new to the truck and your aim is not yet good enough. for sure. dial in your aim going into 2nd & 3rd with accuracy.
2 - some recommend a trans oil change with something like MT90 and many report it helps, me included. actually the bit that helps there is likely that most find their boxes are under-filled which can of course create that symptom. i was a bit more than 1/4 qt low from the factory.
3 - you probably will continue to break in and smooth out continually from here. and a short shift kit can help once you check your oil.
