Is anyone else having trouble with the bulbs just rotating in the housing? I've got the metal o-ring/clip like thingy, rubber washer, then the final locking ring tightened as much as I can. When I go to plug the orange ballast connector to the bulb, I put it on then when I go to rotate it to lock it spins the bulb. I've got it on now, but now when I try to rotate it to unlock, it spins the bulb assembly. I have to get a pick in to the locking tab on the bulb, then rotate the orange connector to get it loose. This isn't easy as there is NO room behind the bulbs to work.

Also, does anyone have a trick to more easily adjust the height? It's a major pain to get to those while they are on the truck with the battery and windshield washer tank in the way. Mine are adjusted too low now and I've spent an hour to only get them up a couple inches. I am glad I am about to lift the front so hopefully that will get me really close to where they need to be.

I've also got a little bit of light on top of the cut off line. Just a bit, not much, but it's there.

This is on a mini d2s kit with the standard d2s bulbs.

Other than those things, I've got everything put together and installed back on the truck. I am pretty pleased with the look with the BHLM and then I also painted my shrouds black while leaving the reflectors the stock chrome. Gives a nice contrast IMHO and I am diggin it.

Just started mine tonight. Got the spare headlights swapped into my truck and I have the passenger head light torn apart. I'll let you know how everything goes and if I have the same issues although I have the H1's.

Thanks and good luck Pugga! I imagine the way the bulbs fit in the housing are similar between the two kits. Thing is, it seemed solid enough when I had the lights out of the truck, but I can actually pull the bulb base out a bit and can rotate it 360 deg, so it's just not locking in the housing. Obviously I didn't try that when I had them out and working on them! I will probably just pull the lights out again and try to rig up something to make it lock down better. Can probably get the grill off and lights out in under 10 minutes now LOL!

Mine don't move a bit. I actually had a hard time getting the locking spring thing into place with mine but they won't rotate or pull out at all.

that's how my drivers side is, it will keep on spinning until it hits the groove.
The problem i got also is my drivers side is stuck on high beam, i had to stick a coat hanger in there to push the cutoff shield back up. I'm stuck with using only low beams now.

Hmm, guess its the different housing for your year truck? I'm betting your alignment ring sets the light pretty close to level? If so, consider yourself lucky!

Yeah, the alignment ring sets the projector damn close to level. I actually checked them by flashing my Mag-lite through the projectors :D

I think I have 2010 headlights, I forget... I bought them off another member to do the SW-HLM (superwhite headlight mod), then I sold my 2007 headlights off. The alignment rings seem to be doing their job well! Everything is held in nice and tight. My second light is getting ready to go in the over to be put back together. That'll be both lights done in 4 hours plus stopping for dinner :D

The lock ring should have a grippy texture to it? That is meant to use round nose pliers on, but needle nose pliers will work. Its just like replacing the switch on a tactical flashlight. Place the pliers in apposing notches, pinch, and turn.

As for aiming, I make a metal or wood jig to hold the light in the same position, it doesn't have to be level, as long as it is holds the light in the same position every time. Then you can mark the position with the factory bulb, and match your projectors to that.

Here are some pics from the last time I changed my lights. I'm waiting on my TL's to come in now.

    Light on the jig:

Just a few pics of my install:

Also, found a way to adjust the height a little quicker. On the driver side I used all the extensions I had for my socket set, about 20" worth, and was able to slide it along the side of the engine bay, between the fuse box and the inner side of the fender wall to get pretty straight on with the 8mm bolt. On the pass side I loosened the washer tank and was able to get on it with just the socket on the ratchet and using finger tips to move it.

Still having the problem with the bulb spinning, really just on the pass side for some reason. I am going to take it apart and try adding another washer in there to try to keep more pressure on the bulb in the notch.

    Looks great!

Are the headlights on the 2012 easier to remove/reinstall than the previous years? I had mine in and out 3x last night and if I ever find the SOB responsible for that last side screw I'll slap him silly

No, still have that stupid crazy shaped leg on the lower outside portion of the light that screws into the side of the fender. I've just simply left that screw out when I re-installed. It's still a pain to maneuver the light out of the truck with that leg wanting to grab on everything!

Noticed you said you used silicone to seal up around the bulb/rubber boot. I have cut my boots to fit, but still have some airspace there. Trying to decide what I want to do with that....
