I know how you feel...when I did mine, it was the middle of summer so I had to wait until 10 - 10:30 before I could play with adjustments and admire my lights...very rewarding in the end when you know you did it on your own!

And your very welcome...I'm just waiting for the rest of my stuff from TRS to do my stock headlights, and they sent me the wrong bulbs...oh well...no big deal, I'm in no rush

    Correct.

DOT adjustment is with the vehicle 20ft from a vertical surface, the lower line on the cutoff should be 2.1 inches below the centerline of the light.

The beginning of the angle on the cutoff should be directly in front of the centerline of the light.

    Wow...

    I really am undecided.

I've got the sport housings, so they are blacked out.

I can't decide whether to leave the bowls and shrouds chrome, black out only the bowls, black out the bowls and smoke the shrouds, or black out everything.

I'm leaning toward blacking out only the bowls like Ants did. It looks more factory with the chrome shrouds, but adds enough black to the front to keep with the Stormtrooper theme.

I think if I had gone with halos, blacking out the shrouds would work better, but right now, I think it would be too much black. The marker lights and turn signals have lenses that obscure the chrome bowls, and the projector lenses are dark. The housings need some kind of accent.

I just opened up the housings and test fitted everything.
Did anyone else find that with the D2S projectors and Apollo shrouds that no trimming of the shrouds was needed?
I slipped them down until they were flush with the projector front ring and they were JUST making contact with the screws on the bottom of the projector itself, but it seems that they're at a minimum of about 1/16 from the bowls at their closest point, and not far away at their widest to show a noticeable gap.

Thanks man! Yeah I think I will always own a white car from now on. Haven't washed my truck in a month and I can't event tell! Lol

I say you go with black bowl and chrome shrouds. I would have gone that route but I didn't want to wait longer for paint to dry

X2 on the shroud gap. Maybe these shrouds are modified. I read on some writeups that cutting would be required, i guess not anymore.

Seriously... when I saw your pic, my first thought was "Fukkit... I can slap these back together in the next half hour and be done" :D

I love working on things, but I'm also severely ADHD and I have at least 800 project that I've started and not completed.
I've had $12000 worth of oak, hardware, and Spanish tile stacked up in the garage for SIX YEARS waiting to remodel my stairs and tile the upper landing.
My bosses have always complimented me that when they give me a task, they know it'll be done PDQ. I tell them that's because I'm such a procrastinator and ADHD that if I don't start and complete it within 24 hours, it'll never get done :D
I know the FX-R need trimming because they mount deeper into the bowl.
I have a feeling that the smaller Mini-H1 projectors will need trimming.
Honestly, when I saw the size of the D2S projectors, I thought "That's going to fit behind the lens where that 2" tall H4 lamp is now?"

Too many to list. See build page. Link in signature
So I am going to use the stock housing on my 09 MGM sport. It comes with the bezel already "smoked" which almost matches the paint, so I am going to get some smoked or black chrome color spray for the shrouds and bowls to match the oem bezel, then it wont be black like everyone else but it also wont be nasty chrome either. Almost a full color match but more like a black chrome or smoked look :)

Good choice, I was debating long and hard about mine too because I wanted my smoked bezel too. I decided to just black the housing so that it would create that shadow smoke look with the chrome bowl to go with my mag grey paint. Im pretty happy with mine. I went to Autozone to grab dupli color shadow spray to black chrome my grille to match but after testing it on a debadged 4x4 badge, it didn't turn out well and doesn't have the shine that looks like real chrome (cheap spray can so can't expect much) so I think I'm just leaving my grille the way it is for now until I can find a good way to black chrome it. Good luck with your retrofit and post pictures of how yours look when done. Let us know what you decide on too!

I had a few ideas that ended up not happening for a number of reasons.

Hit the Chino WalMart because they are the only place I know of that carries Krylon... including some of the transparent/"candy" colors.

Nope. Remodel, prep for holidays, dunno.... Sporting goods is still there, but everything for 100ft around it has been moved over and into the center section.
Ammo case is empty (I didn't walk over to check the knife case), and the lockup for spray paint was nowhere to be found.
5+ people in each line, not worth it for a Full Throttle, so I was skunked on everything there.

Next stop, Home Depot. They no longer carry the plastic-specific Rustoleum. No transparent colors.
Oh well... two open spots at the self-checkout so I grabbed a Full Throttle.
    Lowe's... same story.

    Auto parts store.
They had one or two transparent colors, but not amber or "smoke" and no Fusion or plastic-specific paint.... they did have both the black and red Nightshades and I considered that for the shrouds, but decided not given some of the results I've seen with Nightshades.

Back to Lowe's, picked up a can of "universal - Self priming - Any angle" Rustoleum satin black. It went on nice and baked to a very smooth, light gloss on the reflector bowl... left the shrouds chrome and mounted them up with RTV.

I'll likely test the system this afternoon and reassemble the housings.
    Probably install them next Friday.
