For those of you that run a CB in the bed, where did you route the coaxial cable through the bed? I have a BAMF tailgate bracket and my Firestik Firering 18' coax cable has the PL-259 adapter on it.

I could cut it off, run the coax through a small hole in the bed, then resolder it with no issues, but Ive heard of impedance issues from soldering a cut cable. Is there a place to push through a PL-259 adapter down to the frame?

Either go from under the seat or from behind the rear seats on the drivers side.

Yep, entering the cab underneath isnt a problem. Im trying to figure out where to push the big PL-259 adapter through in the bed to get down to the frame.

I routed mine into the taillight, over wheel well along the frame and up into the cab through the grommet under the driver seat. Easy as pie.

Best place to mount the antenna IMO because I can haul loads like this without it getting in the way whatsoever

    Score. That's it. :)

Thats a big Firestik. I only have a 2 foot stik and I see the side play with the BAMF mount. does yours rock left to right?

I got a bigger one so it would clear the roof line. The mount does bend very slightly under stress, but it always returns to its natural position. The antenna does wobble in the wind obviously, but the spring is strong and keeps it under control very nicely. Never had a problem with it swinging side to side or being a potential hazard. I beat the hell out the antenna and the mount when I whack trees off-road, And the antenna comes out pointing straight up and fully functional every time. The BAMF and Firestick combo is a rugged setup that hasn’t let me down after almost two years of allot of highways miles and heavy trail use.

Here’s a funny picture when I had my temporary tailgate.

This was 80 MPH on i-10 westbound out of Tallahassee. Antenna holding strong

Good thread. I have to run mine from the same location (just the passengers side). I have a solder connection on mine (fire ring on the other end). Anyone cut the excess cable and terminate the connection? Will that negatively affect ability to get an acceptable SWR reading?

Correct, as long as you do a quality soder job and ensure your outer and inner cable are properly insulated when you put it back together it will be fine.

Looking to run a magnetic mount up top and fish coax and connector between double cab and bed. Do we have rubber plugged factory hole already?
