    :der:

no way man. no 4wd taco came with that tall a ratio. your most certainly 4.10s.

the 2.7L slow bangers with the slush box trannies did in fact come with 4.56s. 2.7L slow bangers with manual came with 4.30s.

4.56 on a V6 with manual tranny and 33s is about stock, 4.10s and 31s. 4.88s will be a bit over geared.

I love being over geared now.

I see a diesel tundra in my future. If I ever go get a job that pays me what I think I'm worth anyway, haha.

I'm calling you on this BS... :luvya: My truck has axle code 01 which according to 4x4wire's image I stole (hosted on my photobucket) indicates I have 3.42 stock gearing. My truck NEVER came stock with 31's. I bought it with 31's when it had 160,XXX miles on it. It isn't a TRD, its a plain manual everything truck.

A photo of the door jam code? I'll work on that...

Anyways holy s**t regearing is expensive. My quotes range from 2300-2900 including all new wheel bearings all around. In addition to my parts I've bought lol.

Damn bro that's expensive. i was going to go with built 3rds from east coast gear supply (front and rear). It's a little less than 3200 shipped w/ gears installed, ARB locker installed in rear, and ARB compressor. Then I would install it myself, then you get a 600 core deposit back when it's all done.

I would have done that but shipping from ECGS to Alaska ate up that idea quick.

Ah damn that makes sense.. At that high of a price I would probably try to find out how hard it really would be to DIY.

Yeah I looked into it and in sure I could do it if I had a week and the tools... My dad has most the tools available to me but I would have to buy a few tools and I would for sure need a week or so.

did they say how many hours it would take? I think most mechanics shops charge roughly $90 an hour for work, so does it take them 20+ hours to install new gears and lockers...... doubtful if they have done it multiple times (I would hope so)

edit: assuming you provide all parts

Well he said new wheel bearing all around so I assume thats with the cost of those parts and labor in there as well.

Yeah the shop is covering the wheel bearings. I only have the diff. rebuild kits, the new ring and pinions, and the air locker for the rear. When I got my alignment I was told to do the wheel bearings since one (left rear) was getting real bad and the fronts need some help too. Figured why not just do it all now since some of the labor to take it apart would be duplicated.

GTF quoted me closer to 2900, Youngs Gear quoted me around 2350 and I scheduled with them for next week. Another shop I went to had the differential guy quit so there went my discounted connection...

But the front is about 8-9 hours labor, the rear is about 5 hours, and the rest is wheel bearings, about 600 for parts and labor. Or something like that... I haven't had good sleep in over a week and am going off of memory.
