This trail I think is the first or second right from the Independence mine side going towards Willow.

Alright guys I need some help.

How do I convince the wife that I need a SAS instead of fixing the steering rack? Any and all ideas welcome... Thinking of the Trail Gear kit C (link here), or if I could get it built in a reasonable amount of time, one of their other kits.

    Currently needs/problems (or will soon)
-Need a valve job, so it'll be at GTF anyways...
-Current CV shafts are wearing pretty good because of lift
-Current rake annoys me... I want the front higher, I can always add in another leaf (have one sitting in my garage to match the rear)
    -durability?
-Sell IFS parts: Fox/Fabtech coilovers with Eibach's and UCA's should be easy enough to sell for $700 or so combined

    • Thinking of keeping the same gear ratio for now of 4.56 (should be good enough for 33-35" tires, for now)
    • Leaf Springs (instead of linked) to keep it under the 10's of thousands...
    • I have a welder, tools and grinders, no torch or plasma though.

What are your spring plans for the front, and what axle are you planning on using?

Cool, that looks like a pretty stout housing. I'm on the fence internally between SAS and Long Travel. Both are appealing to me, sas is pretty simple and so is long travel, but long tavel has the added bonus of changing spring rates and bump stops and limits. SAS I guess would allow that too as long as I went four/three link with coilovers. So IDK, but I'm excited to see how yours turns out, gonna be a beast!

I often wondered what I wanted. For me the SAS seems much cheaper and much more durable for what my climate and location offers me. Both are awesome though!

Gotten a few questions so I figure why not just start posting what I am planning on selling here with prices. I will add this to the OP.

I will be starting the tear down/SAS April 30th after finals.
Almost all items installed March '15

Interested in offers containing CB radios and antenna...

-Fox/Fabtech (dual listed, same part) Coilovers with 650 pound/inch Eibach (most desirable for lifted Tacoma's) Springs. Comes with Relentless Fab custom spanner wrench that is way better than stock. Rebuilt for me before Relentless Fab shipped them up here about one year ago (last March). $500

-All Pro Uniball UCA's installed March '15 $300 OBO
--Also have Total Chaos ball joint tool, might be willing to sell as well.

-Front differential regeared to 4.56. All set up and ready to bolt in. $600
-Rear Toyota 8.4" 4.56 ring and pinion (no diff) $150 obo (both for $700, cheapest way to regear)

-Spindle Assembly Kit for Manual Hub conversion $800 obo
--4 CV shafts, currently in good condition, but might change. (2 Napa installed March '15; 2 might be OEM, not sure)
    --Manual Locking Aisin Hubs
--Spindles for Manual Hubs (needed for manual hub conversion)
    --possibly whatever else needed???

    Others
-Napa Calipers about 18 months old by May, should have receipt. $25
-Steering Rack-Told by GTF it is good, personally not sure. $100
-Lower Control Arms with recently replaced OEM Toyota Ball Joints (have receipt somewhere) $100
    -OEM Front Skidplate $25
-Possibly my whole front bumper (without winch). Accepting offers, PM for details.

For other items post or PM me. Will not reserve until cash in hand (but I'll try and be fair).

Well, pretty much done with it for now. The stuff I want to do to it is either really expensive or not really needed. Happy where its at but miss ordering stuff and modding it haha.

Nice, that is always a good-bad position to be in. Spending mod money on road trip and camping makes me the most happy in those types of situations. Carry on.

Whoops, just realized it is for just the front diff and rear gears. I already have rings and pinions and was trying to avoid having to pay all the money to have them installed.
