A mechanic friend with a $500 scan tool came over and we got this thing running, turned out to be a bad MAF, the readings were jumping ALL around, reading about .6 V at idle, then when I held the throttle at 1200 RPM or so the readings were going from 2.2 V to 3.9 V! So that is why she no run!

Going to pick up a reman MAF at Napa this week and report back!

Nice, how hard was it to find a decent MAF, we have a weird older MAF on out trucks that's hard to buy locally for me

Haven't replaced it yet... The Napa website shows the second one as the only one that will fit my truck, although the top one looks closer. I'll have to take mine in and compare.

I need to be convinced to do it. haha. Been reading in @malburg114 's thread also.... I'd love the travel they give, but am slightly afraid of them being too soft. Also wondering how your install went? Would you do anything differently?

Right now, probably 3" over stock. I want to be as low as possible and clear 255/85/16's with no/minimal trimming

Or, another way to look at it is I don't want to have to raise the front end to prevent from having hella rake

Later on after I get out of school, I may want it higher. But that's a long time from now

Okay, 3" is easily doable. I'd recommend getting a good shock and running them closer to vertical. The /\ method is just stupid unless building a trailered rig meant for slow rock crawling like @Slodgetto did on his Green Dragon. It does not corner well and with the 63's you will need to take advantage of your shocks.

They are soft, but remember they came off of a 1500 truck for the 3+ overload (or 2500 if you want the stiffer 4+ pack) so they can definitely handle the weight.

On my shocks I wish I would have mounted the shocks closer to the axle, my shock tabs place the shocks almost 3" away from the axle tube, which when hitting a larger bump imparts a moment on the axle and encourages an axle wrap like response. So, keep the shocks mounted close to the axle.

I adjusted my height by adding in a few leaves from my old OME leaf pack. Easy to do. Don't worry about the height, you can tune it with an AAL, adding another overload spring (almost like a small lift block) or just adding a couple leaves from your current pack in (I did this).

Yeah I was thinking about getting some fancy Bilstein or Fox remote resi shocks for the rear in the || orientation. Should I french the front hangers? And did you just use the stock hangers and shackles in the rear?

I wouldn't french them in, but some do. You are getting close to the gas tank so be very careful cutting and welding or better yet drop the tank (I didn't). I would't say remote reservoir shocks are necessary, but are never a bad idea. The 95-97 Tacomas use a different leaf spring than the other years (ours are shorter) but I did move mine back some I believe. Not sure if you will or not. Also, I used a 6" shackle, you probably want a shorter one.

Hmm. I have the Toytec adjustab;e shackles as well as my factory ones, so I'm sure one of those would work. I am afraid I might have to cut into my slider support depending on how far forward I mount the front hanges

Was it a pain to allign the axle? I'd be pissed if I made it crooked...Knowing me, I'd measure 10 times and it'll still be off. haha

Yes it was, especially since I did it myself. I ended up being about 1/16" off at the axle laterally, but dead on straight. I was worried about it and then realized how much leaf springs move around when cornering and what not and laughed at myself for worrying about it.
