I used to think they did nothing.

I had a carb motorcycle that sat for 3+ yrs with gas in it. When I was working on getting it back on the road I could barely get it to start, but no idling. Didnt want to clean or rebuild the carbs so I dumped the gas and put seafoam with new gas in. It still ran like shit when I got it to start, but as I kept messing with the throttle and choke to keep it running I could at least get it to idle but very rough. I left it running in my drive for a dew hours, and then ran the rest of the gas throuhh it on the streets. By the end of 2 tanks it was purring smooth and great.

That's the only time I have ever been able to see a difference. But every year I go and run seafoam through the gas of all my machines just to hopefully clean them out.

I would be more concerned about the filter. Just my 2 cents.

I haven't tried it in the Tacoma yet, but I used to run it in my 1970 Road Runner (440). Had Royal Purple engine oil, their "Purple Ice" in the radiator, and purple stuff in the rear diff (can't remember what they call their diff products right now). Definately made the temps lower and the engine seemed to run smoother.

I've thought about using these products but I have a hard time justifying the purchase because I've driven my Ford into the 200K range without the use of these products at all (a lot of heavy hauling and towing). It's hard to go against personal experience lol. As of yet I have had zero engine problems with my vehicles (Taco is still young).
Plus I've seen on Youtube where this one kid (I think Alex) uses a bunch of these products and looks into the engine/cylinders with a borescope. With nearly all of the products I see no significant difference in dirt and grime in the engine cylinders. You would have to likely use these products regularly and even then, what difference would it make for longevity? Would it be worth the additional expense? Some of these products are $7-15 a use. Lets say to get a cleaner engine you need to run them 1/mo. That is way too much money for me to justify using them.
I know some people run them before each oil change. For me that is every 10K. Ehh I don't think that is often enough to clean anything or keep anything clean.

Me personally, I just have a hard time justifying the expense. I've seen plenty of cars last well into the 300K mileage range without them.

Bringing back memories. Those were cool cars, especially for the $$$.
