drilling holes in the a-pillar ? you frickin MAD ?

fine. you ever flip the truck you better be able to duck as the roof collapses and
can no longer hold up to it's designed crash rating

Theres a strong argument that theres likely been more rolled trucks with lightbars than without due to all the Capt. Glamis's running around.

I rolled my 4runner when out wheelin
and the pass door was dented all up exactly alongside where OP drilled
the holes, but the a-pillar wasn't dented or caved in. around the a-pillar top, and top of windshield
up to my moonroof was caved in a bit. a-pillar was the one thing keeping the
roof from caving in further. door arch failed, roof failed, moonroof opening
failed...that a-pillar just had scratches on it holding it all together. a-pillars are critical structure.

Go to a paintless dent removal place in the area, have one the techs tap the higher areas down, then touch it up with primer paint in the holes, then use one of their plugs.

    https://www.dentcrafttools.com/plugs.html

It will look something like above on the white car but less noticeable on your dark color, after a few weeks you won't even notice it and since they will be placed in the same location on both sides equal distances apart, most others won't either.

Agreed, but it doesn't mean that you can't drill a hole and fill it with metal (insert and screw). It actually may only have insignificant impact if done properly....... rivnut? Maybe not. Weld it in and you could be golden. Just don't try to sue Toyota if you get in a crash and it gets crushed.

The solution: Move over an inch and use a ram set. And take video.

I'm going to throw out the idea of a nutsert that will work in that sized hole and use a bolt to attach it to the nutsert instead of a rivets . . .

Its situations like this where its better to have an option for a LED mount that attaches to the roof using the factory installed roof rack mounting points. I'm sure it would cost a bit more money to make and buy, but you can avoid catastrophe's like OP's.

Here is a video showing the mounting points.
