I've got a 17 taco, I've noticed that i get some sort of current draw from climate control system.
I understand that ac will cause these symptoms, but ac is off. I've also unchecked box for auto ac in vehicle customization, but the problem persists. It's only when I turn climate control completely off and that's when the constant fluctuations go away and doesn't cycle on/off whatever it was before. Any ideas? It couldn't be ac(or could it?) I have temps set at 80 so I don't see why it would come on

Sounds like what my truck does with the ac or defrost on.... I don't have the auto climate control.

I understand that, but why would it if it's turned off and the climate control is at 80?
Defrost off as well as air recycling

Sounds normal and not to worry. It should smooth out some as the miles pile on.

Enjoy and congrats on your new truck!
    Cheers!

I figured it was probably a "characteristic of the vehicle" though wanted to know why, I guess I'll just have to look in the owners manual and see if it says anything about it.
    Thanks

You won't find anything there about that, you learn much more here on TW, but just don't ask something that is on the manual as it irks some and you'll get a...

The truck will also cycle between injection cleaning modes, which might affect RPMS. Your AC compressor is probably cycling on and off, unless you have JUST vents on... easy test, pop the hood and observe the ac pump.

Do you need to know, or care?
Lots of reasons, as said here AC, touching the steering wheel even a bit, or could be if the engine is warm and goes into injector clean mode. Possibly amp draw, depending on what accessories are being used. It's normal for the vehicle.

Could be because the cooling fan turned on too.

My 2017 w/ 1500mi does the same thing without a/c or anything else running. Seems worse when cold. Definitely a nuisance

That's what I was thinking, I will take a look after work if it that fan or possibly even ac(although It wouldn't make sense to me why it would kick in).

I know about the the injector cleaning cycle, I'm not talking about the noise, I'm talking about amp draw enough to drop 2-300 rpm. This brings me to another thought, would mechanically actuated clutch fan cause this? I know it causes some parasitic drag on the motor, but wondering if it's enough to cause the symptoms.
I suppose I'll do some investigating later today

so turns out it's the ac kicking on and off, I'm not sure why, but it's definitely compressor coming on. Also heard injectors come on, kinda neat lol.
Now I need to figure out why ac compressor is coming on.

    Edit:
I think I figured it out, as I was cycling thought climate modes, I noticed that if you have blower set on say feet and windshield, the compressor will come on, so I think it a design feature to quickly Defog the windshield, I've now set it at face and feet and ac compressor isn't coming on. Hopefully this will help someone who is as OCD as me lol
