    +1

None of the improvements to the automatic can make it more efficient that a properly geared stick. Toyota persists in handicapping the stick with a barely OD gear.

Planned elimination of the stick it seems.

I LOL every time I see that Toyota has a secret plot to ensure people buy an A/T over a M/T because of the OD gearing on the M/T. That is some funny shit. Never would have crossed my mind... What if Toyota's super secret scheme is to put a bed on the back of a Prius and get rid of the Tacoma? They will then obtain their secret goal of forcing people to have an A/T AND getting good gas mileage..

    Anywayz...

    OP - 60mph = 2900rpms in 4th, 2300rpms in 5th and 1900Rpms in 6th with a TRD OR 4x4. Just tested it.

The TRD OR auto turns 1500 RPMs at 60 mph, I am surprised at the 600 RPM difference.

I have to agree with Toyotas dropping the ball on the stick. My gen 1 5spd with a shell fully loaded gets better milage than my 2nd gen 6 speed empty bed.,, the clutch squeaks less too

The stick is still more fun than the auto!
