Alright boys and girls, finally got mine in today and installed. Here is my very honest and blunt opinion and some pictures.

First and foremost, the lack of directions is frustrating and frankly unacceptable. I am not the most mechanically inclined person, and I know there are people interested in modding their truck who are even less mechanically inclined. Regardless of how easy this is to install these, you guys need to include instructions. There are a few brackets that do not have holes on the frame. I know they need to get drilled, but a lesser mechanically inclined person would be stumped. These need to be simple and straight forward to install. I do not want to play a guessing game while holding up 50lbs of metal. The install time could be cut down significantly with piece of paper that would cost you less than $5 to make. This has to be a must moving forward.

Secondly, the powder-coating is horrible. Through following your Instagram and this post, I know you don't do powder in house and this is your first batch, so I don't blame RRW for this. Find a new powder guy, your current guy sucks. This first picture is of two spots that were bare upon arrival:

    IMG_4704.jpg

Here are pictures of how much came off after I jacked up the truck:

    IMG_4703.jpg

Furthermore, there were plenty of paint bubbles upon arrival. I've been around enough show cars and trucks to know what good powder-coating looks like, and this is not it. Again, I don't blame RRW for this since they outsource the powder. Simply suggesting they find a new guy. I don't think coating them with bedliner would be a terrible idea either.

Regarding the strength, I'd like to show pictures of the gap between the sliders and the section underneath where the rocker sheet metal meets the under body sheet metal and folds into one. This first picture is how the sliders sit normally:

    IMG_4697.jpg

This second picture is when you jack the truck up. Please note, I do not have a hi-lift jack, but all of the weight was taken off of my wheels and the suspension was fully stretched out. This is as close as I could get to being fully off the ground:

    IMG_4700.jpg

As you can see, the bars do flex enough to touch the body of the truck when it is lifted by a jack. Will it damage the truck by lifting on the sliders with a jack? No. Can you safely use these sliders as a lift point to change a tire, etc? Yes. If you slammed the sliders extremely hard on a rock, I'm convinced you would at least dent this 'flap' of metal. I do think they are rigid enough to keep this flap of metal from completely folding over from an impact.

These are the only rock sliders I've ever owned, so I have nothing to compare them to. I did not expect them to flex like that. I would feel comfortable saying that you would receive no damage at all from a mild to moderate impact on these sliders. If you slammed these sliders very hard on a hard surface, I believe you would damage that metal flap. Again, I do not know if other sliders flex like this or not. I jumped up and down fairly hard on these (I'm 190lbs.) and they felt very sturdy.

One other gripe I had is that the lead time was listed as 2.5 weeks when I placed my order. I was impressed by that claim and was skeptical, for good reason. From order to arrival it took 6 weeks. I see you've changed your lead time on your website to more accurately reflect this. Please keep doing this. It's not about how long it actually takes to make the item, it's about the expectation you set. If you say 2.5 weeks, make it 2.5 weeks. If you say 6 weeks, make it 6 weeks.

My overall impression of these is that they do the job for the price I paid. I am happy with the product at the $575 shipped price point. I see now on the website that they are up to $650 shipped, which I still think is worth it. Once you start touching the $800 range (which looks to be the end goal) is when I would look to more established companies who have thought their sliders through completely. This is the second batch of sliders ever produced by RRW, so hopefully we see improvements coming. I happily wear your sliders on my truck for now.

I will provide more updates after this weekend when I slam them on things.

That powder coating is pretty terrible. Powder coat done right should be damn near indestructible. I understand lowered expectations with a lowered price point, but this is just a promo price. The quality now should match whatever it will be when the price goes up.

Also, they don't have to print install instructions. They have a website. Install instructions should be on the product page. If they're not, they need to be asap. This post doesn't inspire a lot of confidence and I'm starting to second guess my decision.

I also looked on the website, I could not locate the instructions there either. If you got them at the $575, I'd feel good about the purchase. All things considered, I do believe they'll protect your truck.

@RayRRW Received my sliders a few weeks ago. Bought due to the sale so I jumped. I have been following this thread , I haven't posted in the thread but have been following. I finally got around to installing, again other installs were first this was a jump buy due to price and free shipping. The problem I have is that the very first run was without gussets, I wasn't interested until you posted that from the time of your post about adding gussets going forward, you would do just that, include them with all sliders. I finally unboxed and had a gloss black slider with no gussets. Without gussets, these are useless for me. I don't expect to ship them back, I would just like to have gussets. I would like you to send me precut gussets so I can weld them in myself. I would like to not buy metal and cut as an added expense since they were supposed to be there anyway. Also after spending $60 more for grade 8 hardware that I had to upgrade due to the hardware sent with the sliders.

Nice post. I ordered mine a while ago so once I get them I’ll do a review similar to yours

@RayRRW i also agree with him that you shouldn’t post erroneous lead times as now everyone on here is negatively commenting on it and your quick lead time was one of the reasons I bought your sliders.

So I ordered mine on 9/23 and hopefully they ship out soon.

I ordered 10/11, at that time it still stated 2.5 week lead time. I hope it sticks, but I'm more concerned about quality than ship time so I wouldn't mind a longer wait (at least not too much).
