RRW was very responsive on email until a week ago. I haven't received a shipping notification despite being told mine were in the 2nd batch. i'm a glass half full kind of guy so i'm hoping the RRW team took some time off to spend it with friends and family over thanksgiving and are back at it this week fulfilling orders! 8 weeks in, really want to go slide around some stumps @RayRRW

Finally got around to putting mine on. Mine were done with the gussets, came with grade 8 hardware (more on that in a minute), but we're powder coated by the original company they were using I believe. Overall, I'm satisfied with them but part of me wishes I went with a different brand.

Boxes arrived in great shape. No damage during shipping, which is nice, especially when it's free! However, when I opened them up they had several nicks in the powder coating. IMG_20181115_155829.jpgNot a huge deal but disappointing for sure. I proceeded to mount them up, starting with the passenger side. I balanced it on a jack and just lined up the holes. When I started to tighten them down I noticed the washers were beginning to deform. It finally dawned on me that the washers provided didn't look like grade 8 hardware. IMG_20181116_114130.jpg IMG_20181116_131355.jpg I was using a 1/4 inch ratchet that's got like a 6 inch handle on it so it wasn't like I was applying a whole lot of torque but those washers definitely weren't up to the task. I ran to home Depot and picked up some new washers as well as a smaller set of nuts and bolts for the very front hole. There is a hole there that lines up but the included hardware doesn't fit in the hole. I think it was 1/4 inch that I ended up buying. Just bring the original for reference and buy the next size down and it will fit. Also, more of the powder coating flaked off as I tightened the bolts down. I think im going to grab a rattle can bed liner and just recoat the entire thing.

The driver side was a little trickier. The brake line brackets take up most of the holes that line up. I decided I didn't want to bother with drilling and that the rigid brake lines aren't going to go anywhere without the cheap little plastic brackets that we're in the way. I removed the 2 towards the back and they immediately broke anyways. I didn't take step by step pictures but it's really not hard. I had my hands full trying to balance the sliders on the jack and trying to line up the holes with my 1 year old running around trying to help. All said and done it took me like 3 hours including a home depot run.

Now that they're on, they don't stick out quite as much as I would like. I thought I would prefer the tucked under look but my buddy's stick out and his are definitely more functional both as steps and mall armor. His may actually save some body damage too if you were to get close to some tall rocks. IMG_20181117_111344.jpgIMG_20181117_111330.jpg IMG_20181117_111319.jpg
Considering the price difference (his were close to double mine after the inserts and the powder coating and shipping) I'm pretty happy with mine. I don't remember what he got.. I don't do anything crazy off road and when I do sketchy stuff I go slow so hopefully I never slam these down and really put them to the test. For my needs, they should be good enough. They look better than the old steps too in my opinion.

I note that the current website lead time is 5-6 weeks. Most of us have been waiting twice that long already and ordered when it said 2-3 week lead time. I was told that mine were (likely) in this batch and they would get me an update last week.....

I think what I am trying to say here is COMMUNICATE! Take 5 minutes each day and post the order #s that were shipped that day so we can see positive progress. Some of us were badly burned when another supplier just shut down and didn't provide product or refunds. I hate to lump all suppliers into a position of distrust so please give us a reason to believe in your desire to get caught up and fill the orders!!

    So i just received this
    Hey Darrell,

So your sliders are packed ready to go but Pilot never picked up them up at our manufacture. We only make pilot labels when the sliders are packed ready to go. Pilot didn't come pick it up on the day we scheduled it and our manufacture did not let us know that they didn't pick it up. Its our fault that we didn't follow up with it but now we know that we will need to spend more time working with the manufacture.

Our manufacture never communicated with us and its been sitting there ever since we made the label. Your order and other guy's order were sitting there for the past 2 weeks. I'm truly truly sorry. I'm going to put all my focus on these orders because its very clear to me now that it needs more attention. If you still want to keep your order please let me know. I'm going to call Pilot tomorrow to schedule the pick up and will get the drivers number to make sure he picks them up tomorrow.

If you like me to text you updates tomorrow i can do so.

    Here's my contact: 626 537 9861

    best regards,

The powder coating guy mixed up the long bed sliders with the short bed slider so they powder coated the long bed sliders before the short bed ones. So i only received a few Short Bed Taco Sliders on the last delivery. I'm going to be working really really closely with the manufacture to get this sorted out for you guys. I'm going to make these sliders my main focus. I apologize for not updating you guys, I initially thought the 2nd batch for the short bed sliders came back but it turned out to be the long bed ones.

I'll update you guys daily on your orders. I don't want to post the order numbers out due to confidentiality reasons but i'll be sure to update you guys daily on this post. I'm going to figure out how many sliders that i'm going to get in and i'll let you guys know how many sliders are coming in and email those who are in the next batch of sliders that are coming in.

I'll send a picture of the sliders that have been waiting to get picked up.

    **Update:

Just scheduled another pick up with Pilot. Going to bug the LA terminal AND the manufacture tomorrow until they pick up those orders.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Thank you. Running a business is a bear, and expanding your operation is a curse and a blessing!

Is there a reason why the manufacturer is not letting Pilot pick them up??

It's either pilot coming too early or too late. Pilot doesn't come a 2nd round. The manufacture is very busy with other client's orders so they forgot to tell us that pilot didn't pick up. We're going to be on top of pilot pick ups so make sure it gets picked up when we schedule it.

    Ray,

First of all, YOU are the manufacturer. Whether you outsource your work or not; you are ultimately held responsible.

Second, a shipping company coming early or late means between 7-4:30. Normal working hours. They (your manufacturer) should be available for this. And if they're not, you should've been notified immediately and rescheduled. As well as letting us know.

I understand that you had some hiccups along the way with the powder coating, etc. However, you do need to take responsibility for these orders and let your customers know what's going on. The fact that we are in the dark here is really ridiculous and unprofessional. Honestly, I need to know when I will receive these or else I will request a refund and move on. Nothing personal Ray, but I think I've given you the benefit of the doubt.

    Thanks,
    Mick
